lol eagles backups playing better than jaguars starters
― Mordy, Saturday, 14 August 2010 00:26 (fifteen years ago)
apparently they told jaguar starters that they can't leave the game until they score. it's now 10-0 and eagles have had their backups in since the beginning of the second quarter -- poor guys :/
― Mordy, Saturday, 14 August 2010 00:32 (fifteen years ago)
they'll be still on the field tonight running Herbies (do ice hockey references work in an NFL context? oh well)
yay preseason Raiders win! I'm glad our third running back choices are Cartwright & Bennett, either one seem like they'd be a good backup.
― VegemiteGrrrl, Saturday, 14 August 2010 02:13 (fifteen years ago)

― my stomach is full of anger. and pie. (Hunt3r), Monday, 16 August 2010 02:22 (fifteen years ago)
that 30 yd drop was a pretty impressive passalso his head is now fully shaved and growing back at the speed of love

what should be the odds on the following:
tim tebow leads all rookies in rushing touchdownstim tebow leads all denver broncos in rushing touchdowns
for the first one, his main competition is ryan matthews, but i wouldn't be surprised if his TDs are cut by gates/vincent jackson etc (assuming he comes back) -- i'd peg him for... 10/11 TDs -- i could see tebow getting him by one or two
for the second one, who is his competition? moreno is hurt, buckhalter is hurt, brandon marshall no longer exists... doesn't tebow have to be the favorite to lead them in rushing...? jj arrington?
― be my anchor baby (J0rdan S.), Monday, 16 August 2010 05:48 (fifteen years ago)

― my stomach is full of anger. and pie. (Hunt3r), Monday, 16 August 2010 05:50 (fifteen years ago)
Is Tebow built to rush that often? Won't he get hurt?
― Mordy, Monday, 16 August 2010 05:52 (fifteen years ago)
my prediction is yes, if he's not already hurt
― my stomach is full of anger. and pie. (Hunt3r), Monday, 16 August 2010 05:54 (fifteen years ago)
i mean, he is big and can run, but no qb is built to run that much unless they have real real wheels
― my stomach is full of anger. and pie. (Hunt3r), Monday, 16 August 2010 05:55 (fifteen years ago)
i mean... tebow's problem running in the NFL will have very little to do with size, and much more to do with speed -- tebow is listed at 6-3, 245 -- that's bigger than every running back in the nfl, even steven jackson
― be my anchor baby (J0rdan S.), Monday, 16 August 2010 05:57 (fifteen years ago)
that's not to say that he shouldn't avoid contact, but i don't think his chances of getting hurt are much greater than any running backs'
― be my anchor baby (J0rdan S.), Monday, 16 August 2010 05:58 (fifteen years ago)
so yes, he probably will get hurt, but it's the nfl

giants 2nd team iirc
Aren't they worried about psyching their starters out by putting them against the other team's backups? Like if you make a good play, you're only playing against backups. And if you make a bad play, that seems like really scary news about your team.

I think the whole LeBron thing tied with Cowhert dissing Joey Votto this summer finally broke me on ESPN. I haven't watch a bit since before the baseball allstar break.
Don't miss it either, as I don't have to listen to anything about the Dallas Cowboys, Brett Favre, Yanks/Sox, TO and whatever NBA BS they are talking about.
With the NFL and MLB networks around, you don't really even need ESPN anymore and at least they will talk about the other teams SOME. Criminy seems to me the MLB network all they talk about is the Twins.

I love the preseason. It's exciting to see the fresh young talent fighting their hearts out for a spot on the roster. Watching what up and coming guys can challenge last year's starters. I'm sad about this seemingly inevitable move to an 18 game season. Nobody's gonna have any healthy starters by the time they get to the playoffs.

leinart's heart isn't in it at the nfl level
― ('_') (omar little), Saturday, 4 September 2010 20:59 (fifteen years ago)
matt leinart was gifted with being in one of the most explosive passing offenses of the past 3 years and he was passed on the depth chart by a guy that was RELEASED by THE BROWNS
i mean, just, no
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 4 September 2010 21:00 (fifteen years ago)
and yes, he clearly just does not care
well, henne looked great in exhibition game no. 1 -- but terrible in the balance of the preseason.
― Daniel, Esq., Saturday, 4 September 2010 21:01 (fifteen years ago)
this being more of my concern.
it's debatable whether someone like him ever really cared about football tbh -- everything came easy to him in high school & college and when he faced adversity in the pros he didn't try hard to improve and then he just pouted
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 4 September 2010 21:02 (fifteen years ago)
oh lord it's the preseason
leinart's life at USC didn't prepare him for the nfl. kinda the problem when you're a decent QB stuck in a system that is tailored to you perfectly at the college level and then you go to the NFL where you're just another mediocre former college star and you yourself start to realize that fact.
― ('_') (omar little), Saturday, 4 September 2010 21:02 (fifteen years ago)
yeah and also when you're playing with a team that is just exponentially more talented than any other team you play
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 4 September 2010 21:03 (fifteen years ago)
okay this is a fair point but i wasn't overly-impressed with henne last season, either. were you?
― Daniel, Esq., Saturday, 4 September 2010 21:03 (fifteen years ago)
i don't know what you mean by overly impressed
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 4 September 2010 21:04 (fifteen years ago)
i didn't think he was very good.
― Daniel, Esq., Saturday, 4 September 2010 21:05 (fifteen years ago)
usc's offense has been a mirage for forecasting future nfl stars since carson palmer
― ('_') (omar little), Saturday, 4 September 2010 21:05 (fifteen years ago)
idk daniel... he played pretty well for a rookie w/ really minimal pass catching talent around him
i'm not exactly sure what you were expecting
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 4 September 2010 21:08 (fifteen years ago)
i mean he's not gonna be one of the top 5 QBs in the nfl, but he was a second round pick & i'm pretty sure that he could take a team into the playoffs
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 4 September 2010 21:10 (fifteen years ago)
that's pretty good value
dolphins could've had brady quinn!!
hell yeah!
well, dolphins talking about this being a big breakout season, with acquisitions of marshall and dansby. not at all convinced henne is the guy who can move us into the nfl's elite.
― Daniel, Esq., Saturday, 4 September 2010 21:11 (fifteen years ago)
but "good value," yeah. i see that.
― Daniel, Esq., Saturday, 4 September 2010 21:12 (fifteen years ago)
idk i mean... it would be foolish to think that the dolphins are gonna be an elite team in the nfl this year
they could certainly make the playoffs tho
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 4 September 2010 21:13 (fifteen years ago)
maybe. hoping the jets have an epic, historic collapse.
― Daniel, Esq., Saturday, 4 September 2010 21:14 (fifteen years ago)
(a) would help dolphins playoff chances(b) would make me smile.
― Daniel, Esq., Saturday, 4 September 2010 21:15 (fifteen years ago)
i don't think the jets are going to make the playoffs
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 4 September 2010 21:16 (fifteen years ago)
they aren't going to be "bad" tho
hoping the jets have an epic, historic collapse.
Aren't we all?
― Johnny Fever, Saturday, 4 September 2010 21:17 (fifteen years ago)
i like your thinking. otoh, last year the jets had the nfl's no. 1 defense; no. 1 running attack; and that apparently-talented QB.
― Daniel, Esq., Saturday, 4 September 2010 21:18 (fifteen years ago)
xp
screw the jets if they make the playoffs i will boycott the playoffs.
― horseshoe, Saturday, 4 September 2010 21:18 (fifteen years ago)
i probably won't but i will be pissed off
― horseshoe, Saturday, 4 September 2010 21:19 (fifteen years ago)
cosign.
― Daniel, Esq., Saturday, 4 September 2010 21:19 (fifteen years ago)
The only reason they made the playoffs in '09 is because the Colts let them in.
― Johnny Fever, Saturday, 4 September 2010 21:19 (fifteen years ago)
exactly
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 4 September 2010 21:21 (fifteen years ago)
i'm gonna be the jets stan this year arent i?
― this isn't STRAWBERRY 0_o it's RAWBERRY (forksclovetofu), Saturday, 4 September 2010 21:23 (fifteen years ago)
turn back now, while there's still time.
― Daniel, Esq., Saturday, 4 September 2010 21:25 (fifteen years ago)
It's not like this wasn't inevitable, but Willie Parker is now unemployed.
― Johnny Fever, Saturday, 4 September 2010 21:33 (fifteen years ago)
I think getting rid of Leinart was smart, but I also think this might be the best thing that ever happened to him.
― no gut busting joke can change history (polyphonic), Saturday, 4 September 2010 21:43 (fifteen years ago)
Amazing that they couldn't even get a 7th rounder for him though.
afc east is super open this year. imo pats and jets are gonna struggle and it is kind of up to miami whether they have the stones to win the division. bills have a lot of ground to make up, but that would be so hilariously awesome that i am rooting for that over anything less than the pats in the super bowl.
― Roberto Spiralli, Saturday, 4 September 2010 22:11 (fifteen years ago)
i'm thinking this is going to be a 2-14 season for the bills tbh but it would be hilariously awesome if it weren't. i can see miami winning the division easy.
― horseshoe, Saturday, 4 September 2010 22:31 (fifteen years ago)
and if the bills can't win the division, i'd rather have it be miami than the pats or the jets.
― horseshoe, Saturday, 4 September 2010 22:32 (fifteen years ago)
the bills couldn't have picked a better season to absolutely tank -- 2011 QB class is the best it's been in forever
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 4 September 2010 22:32 (fifteen years ago)
the dolphins first-half schedule is a killer:
― Daniel, Esq., Saturday, 4 September 2010 22:54 (fifteen years ago)
LOLE MISS
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 4 September 2010 23:17 (fifteen years ago)
whoops!
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 4 September 2010 23:19 (fifteen years ago)
just change "e miss" to "timore" and that line works here, too.
― Daniel, Esq., Saturday, 4 September 2010 23:39 (fifteen years ago)
i'm thinking this is going to be a 2-14 season for the bills tbh
― horseshoe, Saturday, September 4, 2010
