there is no way that the bills are going to beat jacksonville this week

the only way the bills will win a game this year is if they get a team in december that is far out of the playoff race and has nothing to play for and just gives up because it's so cold

for instance, the bills play the browns (lol) (lol one more time) at home on december 12th. they could prob win that game.

most important positions in the nfl are qb, lt, de/olb

that said, it's funny in the draft how much of a fine line there is b/w a player that turns out to be completely elite and a guy that doesn't

in the 07 draft, the cardinals took OT levi brown at #5 & adrian peterson went #7

the bills took beast mode at #12 and the jets took revis at #14

that said i think ingram could be really, really good in the nfl, esp if you look at where, like, ryan matthews got drafted last year

but if the pats really need d line or olb help then they should be able to get a total stud w/ the raiders pick cuz this is really the deepest class in that area in years

re most important players, i'm not as reductionist at that - i think it is incredible how much you need everyone to do their piece right for anything to work in football, more so than any other team sport i can think of. with rbs, on the one hand, if you have a line that can open holes anybody could be a productive back, but anticipating those holes and exaggerating them with your body movements are important skills that prob get overlooked.

So much is made of the yards Ingram gets after first contact, but really that guy shakes people off like dandruff.

lately i've been thinking that the most important attribute in a RB is quickness/acceleration. watching ronnie brown plow into the backs of his lineman or hit a wide open hole only to get crunched by a mlb immediately has had that at the forefront of my mind.

but i feel like it's a mystical size/quickness combo because little scatbacks don't really do much in the NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Basically the main difference between CJ/Best and someone like Reggie Bush is that Bush is reluctant to run it up the gut and follow his blocks, whereas CJ and Best usually don't freelance until they're out in space. That is much more valuable than a guy like Bush (as a runner) who is too inconsistent to get regular carries on 1st/2nd down.

Spiller strikes me as more like Bush than CJ in that respect.

lol Rome just said Favre and Moss are probably going to shut Childress out of the process and draw up their own plays for the rest of the season. I kind of hate Favre at this point, but I would seriously love it if that actually happened.

I've always found it interesting which players have to deal with "never winning a Super Bowl" as an argument. Barry Sanders (2nd greatest RB ever imo) has to deal with it all the time, but Dick Butkus doesn't. And Butkus' teams weren't even as good as Sanders'.

Hillis completely beasted however many games it was he started in 2008. Ran hard, great hands to catch passes . . . it's just hard to imagine that he regressed so much after his injury that McD would only use him for like 13 carries all year and then trade him for Brady fucking Quinn. From this season, it looks like McD just has absolutely no idea how to implement a rushing game.

Cincy blowing that game today pretty much is going to cost them a playoff spot. I know it is early, but this is one of those years where it is going to be a bar fight to get over the Steelers or Ravens and with the AFC South that competitive, the AFC wild card hunt is going to be f-in tough.
