San Diego at NY Jets - Jets, Chargers blow a game they should win
Chicago at Tampa Bay - Buccaneers
Washington at Carolina- Redskins
Atlanta at Detroit - Lions
Seattle at Cleveland - Seahawks, Colt sux
Denver at Miami - Broncos. Is Sparano in on the tanking? What the hell was going on in that game last week!?!?!
Houston at Tennessee - Texans. Biggest game of the week really.

Late games:
Kansas City at Oakland - Raiders.
Pittsburgh at Arizona - Steelers, but I feel the upset here.
Green Bay at Minnesota - Packers. I think Ponder will actually acquit himself well in a blowout loss.
St. Louis at Dallas. Cowboys.

Waxahachie Swap (Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved), Wednesday, 19 October 2011 22:45 (fourteen years ago)

Last week 9-4, for the year 58-32.

San Diego at NY Jets- I could see the Jets winning as while SD does seem to be better, they are still coached by Norv Turner. 1pm east coast starts seem to be a thing for some west coast clubs, but they are coming off the bye. I'll go Jets for no good reason.
Chicago at Tampa Bay- Nice comeback by both clubs last week. Chicago's O-line did a good job this week against the Vikings. Beating the Saints is big, but beating them after you got mauled by 40 points is impressive. Kind of a pickem game and yet a big game, as both clubs need as many wins as possible, as winning their division is going to be pretty damn impossible. I'm going Bears and hoping for the best.
Washington at Carolina- Newton and Sexy Rexy both came back to earth from their first couple of weeks of good production. I'm going Washington as their defense is playoff caliber now.
Atlanta at Detroit- I'm going Lions but I don't feel good about it, as I could believe a swoon could come to a team like them. ATL is no greatshakes, but they need the wins as it is going to be nigh on impossible to get over the Saints in the division I think in the long run.
Seattle at Cleveland- I guess Browns at home. I don't know much about either club.
Denver at Miami- I'd think the Broncos are the better club, but who knows. I guess give me QB Jeyzus to lead them to the win.
Houston at Tennessee- Neither club is looking as good as they were at the front. Texans need the win, if they don't get over, injuries and all this year, then I think they will blow up the coaching staff.

Late games:
Kansas City at Oakland- I think this year has proven that practice is kind of overrated in the NFL a bit (at least for offense). I'd think Oaktown should be able to win just running the ball and playing defense. As for the Palmer trade, it's a cold day in hell when someone makes Mike Brown look savvy. That said, it's a high price, but Oaktown has had success with the vet QB over the years coming out of the woods (Plunkett & Gannon), so it is not out of line with something Al would have done.
Pittsburgh at Arizona- Kolb's not really looking too hot now. He's still better than what they had I guess. Steelers should easily win, even banged up as they have been.
Green Bay at Minnesota- Packers but this feels kind of trap game like.
St. Louis at Dallas- Cowboys should win this one. Rams have really regressed after seemingly improving down the strech last year.

Night game:
Indianapolis at New Orleans- Boy I bet NBC and ESPN could flex schedule out all of those Indy games, they probably should be able to do so really, as this is just cruel. As close as they have played everyone, you know the Colts would be like 5-1 with Manning at this point. Saints should roll but I wouldn't be surprised if Indy covers the spread. Boy I bet the Colt locker room is a pretty tense place these days. You have to wonder if Indy still might use this poor season (even with Manning) to maybe use it as a convenient way to shift head coaches. You never know, Caldwell might have gotten the job as a placeholder to a bit to keep Dungy happy. The rest of the staff has turned over quite a bit in the past few years. Would Indy maybe go for a Gruden as coach? I know there is some friendship between Gruden and Manning - and being able to coach an offense run by that guy would have to be damn tempting. Pure speculation on my part, but I oddly could see something like that happening.

Monday night:
Baltimore at Jacksonville- Bmore is 5-1 but I am still not a big believer. There is something about that Titans loss that bugs me. They are going to be 6-1, but I still don't see them as a contender for the crown for real yet.

earlnash, Thursday, 20 October 2011 00:20 (fourteen years ago)

10-3 last wk
57-33 season

san Diego at NY Jets - bolts, big
Chicago at Tampa Bay - bears
Washington at Carolina- sry beckgruber, panthers
Atlanta at Detroit - this is kinda a big game for nfc wildcard tiebreakers probably - lions
Seattle at Cleveland - whitehurst is not a good qb but im not sure cleveland can win this? maybe if cribbs works some magic, fuck it, browns
Denver at Miami - fins!
Houston at Tennessee - how is andre johnson healthwise? will say titans
Kansas City at Oakland - Raiders.
Pittsburgh at Arizona - think this might be low scoring, ugly. ben might take some hits but i say pitt wins
Green Bay at Minnesota - Packers.
St. Louis at Dallas. Cowboys. i feel bad for the gorams
Indianapolis at New Orleans - Saints
Baltimore at Jacksonville - ravens

I know this sucks for Lion fans but Jahvid Best should really consider retiring. He's gotten a lot of concussions through college and his short NFL career and is only 22. I shudder to think what he'll be like at 40 should he play another ten years :(

one day there will be mandatory long term time off / retirement for concussions

J0rdan S., Thursday, 20 October 2011 19:11 (fourteen years ago)

I wonder if the Lions should have traded for a rb. I know it would be hard to considering they have so much invested in best and leshoure, but they have a real chance to make noise this year.

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 21 October 2011 00:04 (fourteen years ago)

{a rb way better than ronnie brown)

gruden at indy would be great; h8 caldwell

horseshoe, Friday, 21 October 2011 00:37 (fourteen years ago)

A couple of more losses on the Colts and that meme is going to be picked up, you don't go from 10-6 to 2-14 and keep your job no matter who gets hurt and really the only man down is Manning. George Seifert won a Superbowl and looked like a f-ing genius after Bill Walsh, but notice he didn't sniff after his utter failure in Carolina. Same goes for Tom Flores, who was not an older man when he bombed in Seattle after winning 2 Superbowls with the Raiders. Caldwell was a bust as a college head coach and the only path you can say in his time with the Colts is down 14-2, 10-6 and now apocalypse.

earlnash, Friday, 21 October 2011 02:38 (fourteen years ago)

yeah not only is Caldwell boring as shit but he's an awful coach too, with Manning gone I can't fathom why any of THOSE GUYS would want to stay

frogbs, Friday, 21 October 2011 02:39 (fourteen years ago)

btw I really think that any decent coach would have beaten the Saints in the Super Bowl

frogbs, Friday, 21 October 2011 02:39 (fourteen years ago)

seriously it should be a law that whenever jim caldwell is shown on TV it says:

the first question at every jim caldwell press conference should be "now jim, i know we've been over this before, but could you once again explain how you got a head coaching job in the nfl when you previously went 26-63 at wake forest?"

J0rdan S., Friday, 21 October 2011 02:43 (fourteen years ago)

if they hired jim grobe they would go to the super bowl every year?

J0rdan S., Friday, 21 October 2011 02:43 (fourteen years ago)

I don't know about 'any' coach beating the Saints. Caldwell got outfoxed in that game, as New Orleans ran the script that works against the Colts - keep the offense off the field. They also had the balls to run that onside kick and make it work. Manning has made some good coaches including Cowher and "the dark one" try that kind of trick and get burned big time. Payton rolled the dice got the ball and made that extra possession stick.

earlnash, Friday, 21 October 2011 02:45 (fourteen years ago)

wow, looks like Carson Palmer might not even play this week, as he's likely not conditioned enough to make the throws they want...nice trade

frogbs, Friday, 21 October 2011 19:49 (fourteen years ago)

dude took an 8 million paycut to offset that tbf

yeah, niche-y, that's what i meant (Hunt3r), Friday, 21 October 2011 20:34 (fourteen years ago)

he's gonna start

J0rdan S., Friday, 21 October 2011 20:46 (fourteen years ago)

They should let Boller start and give Palmer the bye to learn the playbook and get his fitness up. But they probably won't do that.

polyphonic, Friday, 21 October 2011 21:00 (fourteen years ago)

― frogbs, Friday, 21 October 2011 19:49 (1 hour ago)

Doubt it's conditioning. 5 days is an awfully short amount of time to learn the playbook!

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 21 October 2011 21:51 (fourteen years ago)

Whether they start him or not, keeping it a total mystery all week is totally the right move strategically.

it really is hilarious that tebow went in the first round, gets all the benefit of the doubt in any circumstance, and Terrell Pryor went in the 3rd round and may be converted to WR.

boller had one of the worst games in the history of the NFL, Palmer screwed up the timing on a couple routes (understandably)

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 23 October 2011 22:50 (fourteen years ago)

2nd Palmer INT prob. should have been caught by Moore.

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 23 October 2011 22:51 (fourteen years ago)

horseshoe, Sunday, 23 October 2011 22:52 (fourteen years ago)

I kinda don't know what Hue Jackson should have done. Obviously based on this Palmer would have been a better option in general, but he's clearly uncomfortable with the timing on the plays... so it would have been a really crazy decision to start him. Maybe Hue should have tossed him in after the second Boller pick though.

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 23 October 2011 22:54 (fourteen years ago)

I imagine Boller will be cut.

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 24 October 2011 00:36 (fourteen years ago)

Had the misfortune to be at the Raiders/Chiefs today...ohhhhhhhhh woe is my sadface.

Boller was fucked from like throw 2. WHY OH WHY WOULD YOU ---ugh forget it.
Feel lousy for Palmer, it was way too soon to put him in but what the fuck else were they gonna do, start Lechler?

Oh and Pryor did go in right around the end of the 1st quarter, early in the 2nd: except he changed position right before the snap and drew an illegal motion flag. And that was the end of that, I didn't see him go in for the rest of the game.

This game, in a word: ffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

I'm not sure what the hell was going on with that play. Were they supposed to be faking them out and then doing a qb sneak and he just botched it?

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 24 October 2011 01:01 (fourteen years ago)

xxposts: I thought the flag was on Pryor, but law of averages for that game it could have easily been Boller. Probably was. I have no idea what they were trying to do though.

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 24 October 2011 01:13 (fourteen years ago)

my understanding was that it was on boller bcuz he was moving forward to sneak as he took the snap, which is illegal bcuz you can't motion forward

The new Cheesy Bacon Bowls feature a generous serving of creamy mashed potatoes, layered with sweet kernel corn and loaded with bite-sized pieces of crispy Popcorn Chicken. The entire bowl is drizzled with signature home-style gravy and topped off with a shredded three-cheese blend – and now, a layer of crispy bacon.

To celebrate, we’re awarding one KFC consumer a year’s worth of Cheesy Bacon Bowls…”

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 04:01 (fourteen years ago)

They have KC and Washington coming up in Weeks 9 and 10. I'm guessing they won't be favored in either but those teams can definitely fuck up with the best of them. If they don't do that they're going on serious 0-16 watch though I guess they could have a chance vs. Carson Palmer and the Raiders

its funny this andrew luck sweepstakes cause college qbs are everyone knows impossible to project

ice cr?m, Monday, 24 October 2011 04:41 (fourteen years ago)

i know, that bothers me! i figured there's something insanely great about luck since i don't follow college football and wouldn't know but aren't there any number of historic busts? seems weird to talk about how indy should lose all their games, draft luck and TRADE PEYTY as though that's a sure thing.

Luck is the most highly touted QB since Peyton and Peyton was the most highly touted since Elway. Just look at the relative frenzies over the number 1 picks in their respective drafts. There's a reason there's so much interest in the worst record this year compared to stafford's, palmer's, vick's years.

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 24 October 2011 04:54 (fourteen years ago)

zero?

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 24 October 2011 04:54 (fourteen years ago)

I would argue that Vick was higher touted than Peyton was. With Peyton people were not sure he would be better than Leaf (lol), but Vick was the clear #1 and arguably more of a sensation in college.

Sam Bradford was also the consensus #1 guy for multiple collegiate seasons.

polyphonic, Monday, 24 October 2011 04:55 (fourteen years ago)

oh now im talking to a dude who doesnt know how overrated elway is smh - there are at least two playing rite now! one of whom was selected in the 6th round iirc

ice cr?m, Monday, 24 October 2011 04:56 (fourteen years ago)

Bradford sat out a year with a serious shoulder injury!

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 24 October 2011 04:56 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah Vick was probably more highly touted than Peyton, but with more caveats.

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 24 October 2011 04:57 (fourteen years ago)

Bradford sat out a year with a serious shoulder injury!

Yeah, but he was the top prospect the year before the injury, and the top prospect the year after it!

polyphonic, Monday, 24 October 2011 04:58 (fourteen years ago)

Stafford was the top prospect too. Players picked number 1 are usually the top prospect. Scouts rate Luck unusually high for a top prospect.

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 24 October 2011 05:00 (fourteen years ago)

btw it's true that Leaf was just one notch below this level.

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 24 October 2011 05:03 (fourteen years ago)

but i guess andrew luck changes all of that >:[

horseshoe, Monday, 24 October 2011 05:03 (fourteen years ago)

I was absolutely sure that Cam Newton was being severely overvalued in the 2011 draft, and I turned out to be wrong on that. He picked up the pro game way faster than most people imagined he would (most people besides Ron Rivera, that is). There are still first round qbs who bust in the NFL, but I think the Jamarcus Russell fiasco really schooled every team in the league about being EXTRA careful about using a first overall pick on a qb.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 24 October 2011 05:13 (fourteen years ago)

its true tom brady did die, i guess there is still hope for peyton, prob just has to drink belichiks blood or w/e

ice cr?m, Monday, 24 October 2011 05:15 (fourteen years ago)

one thing I find funny about the NFL draft is that it seems like whenever a player is touted as the "safest," "can't miss" player of the draft, he's a complete bust like 50% of the time. Robert Gallery, Aaron Curry, A.J. Hawk etc.

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 24 October 2011 05:19 (fourteen years ago)

Maybe Mandarich too?

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 24 October 2011 05:19 (fourteen years ago)

But sometimes the safest pick is actually way better than a safe pick and actually a superstar.

Like for example people gave the 49ers a ton of props for drafting a reliable linebacker in Patrick Willis, and he has been so much better than advertised. Plenty of examples of guys like that.

polyphonic, Monday, 24 October 2011 05:37 (fourteen years ago)

i'm not sure what ice cr?m's deal is itt

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 06:11 (fourteen years ago)

trading peyton manning would obv be insane, but if the colts do get the #1 pick they should def pick andrew luck even if it means that they'll undoubtedly be in a rodgers/favre (and to a lesser extent rivers/brees) dilemma like 2 or 3 years from now

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 06:13 (fourteen years ago)

i mean it's very unusual for one college prospect to be this highly touted -- it's extremely unusual, vick i think had lots of "he could revolutionize football!!" hype or w/e but i think there was a lot of ppl that legitimately questioned whether or not he could throw the ball. but there is literally zero doubt in everyone's mind (inside the nfl & out) that andrew luck would have AND should have been the number one pick for two straight drafts. that is not normal.

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 06:15 (fourteen years ago)

he could end up being a massive bust but it's really unlikely

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 06:17 (fourteen years ago)

we'll see how the three non-cam QBs from 11 turn out (i have hopes) but the track record since 08 of first round picks looks to be pretty good so far

5 of those guys are already in the top half of QBs in the league, one is probably not that good but has been in two AFC title games, and the jury is out on the other four, but a few of them at least look okay

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 06:24 (fourteen years ago)

and if luck and barkley and landry jones all come out and all go in the top 13 or so... there could be a really huge influx of good young QBs in the league and that's not even counting someone like andy dalton or w/e. i think it's very possible that the college game has become so advanced (and i'm not even talking about like style of offense here) that there's not going to be many more russell and leinart and leaf and akili smith level busts going to be going forward.

but maybe i'm wrong! i guess we'll see

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 06:26 (fourteen years ago)

tebow & locker will prob throw my whole hypothesis off

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 06:27 (fourteen years ago)

luck's apparently already indicated that he may force a trade if he is drafted by a team for whom he doesn't want to play (like elway did). that's a nightmare scenario for the miami dolphins now.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 24 October 2011 06:27 (fourteen years ago)

uh i guess

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 06:30 (fourteen years ago)

i don't know why he would force a trade from miami

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 06:30 (fourteen years ago)

"i will only play for the kansas city chiefs"

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 06:31 (fourteen years ago)

i'm going to have to look around for it, but that's exactly what he (or his father, who manages luck's career) suggested.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 24 October 2011 06:32 (fourteen years ago)

not saying it will happen, obv., but it was enough of a suggestion to raise concerns locally.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 24 October 2011 06:33 (fourteen years ago)

one such story.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 24 October 2011 06:41 (fourteen years ago)

i guess

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 06:41 (fourteen years ago)

i'm just not exactly sure why he would refuse to play for the dolphins

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 06:43 (fourteen years ago)

because the organization has become a joke.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 24 October 2011 06:44 (fourteen years ago)

it also has a pretty rich history, is in a nice place to live and the team itself has some decent players on it

i'm willing to bet that a lot of those rumors surfaced last year when it looked like he'd be going to carolina or buffalo or cincy

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 06:51 (fourteen years ago)

both the last two links are from interviews done in the past 10 days.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 24 October 2011 06:52 (fourteen years ago)

the other thing is that, by the way, a team doesn't have to trade him! he doesn't actually have a choice

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 06:53 (fourteen years ago)

he can't, for instance, stay in school?

he can certainly sulk, become a cancer to the team, and make clear he won't stay beyond his rookie contract.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 24 October 2011 06:54 (fourteen years ago)

i thought luck had another potential year in school.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 24 October 2011 06:54 (fourteen years ago)

the other thing is that there has to be a team in the top like... 5 picks that he would "force" a trade to, bcuz the dolphins (or whomever) would not trade down from one much further than that

so i guess that leaves him with, like, seattle or the colts

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 06:55 (fourteen years ago)

yeah he could stay in school but i don't see what that would do

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 06:56 (fourteen years ago)

i guess he'd be rolling the dice that a more "preferable" team would get the #1 pick, but it could also end up being the jaguars or the browns in which case he'd have lost a year of his life playing a worthless in college and that's if he doesn't injure himself or w/e

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 06:57 (fourteen years ago)

eli manning forced a trade from the chargers to the giants iirc. similar situation.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 24 October 2011 06:57 (fourteen years ago)

yeah, risk of injury is a big concern about staying an extra year in college.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 24 October 2011 06:58 (fourteen years ago)

right, but the situations are not exactly the same

for one, phillip rivers was available, so it kinda worked out for everyone. secondly, eli was obv considered a top pick (if not THE top pick) but he was not thought of as andrew luck is thought of.

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 07:05 (fourteen years ago)

i guess if he wants to stay on the west coast he could force his way to seattle or arizona but really he can have fun with that

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 07:06 (fourteen years ago)

if a team trades for him they're gonna have to give up a herschel walker or ricky williams type bounty to get him

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 07:07 (fourteen years ago)

he can certainly sulk, become a cancer to the team, and make clear he won't stay beyond his rookie contract.

― Daniel, Esq., Monday, October 24, 2011 2:54 AM (13 minutes ago) Bookmark

this is true, but it also means he wouldn't play a down in the nfl till he was 27

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 07:09 (fourteen years ago)

the acquiring team would have to give up a lot, i assume. but luck's attitude could damage the trading team's leverage (if he's really trashing the team that drafted him, it could force them to trade him, as opposed to the team just dangling him out there for a possible trade (which might still happen if, for instance, the rams get the top pick, but remain happy with sam bradford)).

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 24 October 2011 07:11 (fourteen years ago)

the team with the first pick -- esp with the pick being andrew luck -- would still have a shit ton of leverage, bcuz they could very easily play the "we're gonna pick him anyway!" card

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 07:12 (fourteen years ago)

this is true, but it also means he wouldn't play a down in the nfl till he was 27

for comparison, aaron rodgers, who prob had the most protracted wait of any recent major qb prospect, had already won a super bowl at 26

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 07:13 (fourteen years ago)

by comparison, the colts got QB Mark Herrmann, rights to OL Chris Hinton and a first-round pick (OG Ron Solt) in the 1985 draft when elway forced his way out of baltimore (to denver). hardly fair value.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 24 October 2011 07:14 (fourteen years ago)

if andrew luck ends up being as good as ppl say he will be, then fair value would be like... 8 first round picks

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 07:15 (fourteen years ago)

i mean, however many first round picks it would take to trade for aaron rodgers basically

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 07:15 (fourteen years ago)

which i think right now would be around 20

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 07:16 (fourteen years ago)

right, but no-one's giving up that for luck. any trade value for the trading-team that's closer to what the colts got for elway would be disasterous.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 24 October 2011 07:17 (fourteen years ago)

well of course not -- but if carson palmer and eli manning were both round two first round picks, the team that has the #1 pick in the luck draft will demand at the outset at least double that

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 07:18 (fourteen years ago)

round worth

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 07:19 (fourteen years ago)

four no. 1 picks would be a powerful rebuilding tool, in the hands of a different regime. i assume the dolphins will totally clean-house in the offseason, i.e., fire sparano (for whom i feel badly) and ireland (for whom i wish a painful demise).

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 24 October 2011 07:23 (fourteen years ago)

with this regime, i wouldn't trust four no. 1 picks to revive the franchise, unless one or more of them are -- like luck -- can't miss, once-a-generation players.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 24 October 2011 07:24 (fourteen years ago)

yeah well i think they're gonna have to get rid of ireland

but yeah... the current front office has had disastrous drafts

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 07:25 (fourteen years ago)

altho it looks like they might've hit on daniel thomas

otherwise i can't think of a good pick they've made, jake long aside

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 07:27 (fourteen years ago)

i'll give them credit too for plucking cam wake from the cfl

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 07:27 (fourteen years ago)

i don't think that single game passer rating (or even tebow's season passer rating!) is indicative of much but then again orton isn't great either (though he did have three consecutive "ok" seasons that were better than terrible.) i think we should just sit back and enjoy the rest of this broncos season and hope for the best, which would be the worst for the broncos.

omar little, Monday, 24 October 2011 18:07 (fourteen years ago)

orton is of course terrible *now*

omar little, Monday, 24 October 2011 18:08 (fourteen years ago)

tebow's pretty bad too though, orton at least is a legit bottom-tier starter

frogbs, Monday, 24 October 2011 18:11 (fourteen years ago)

lol, we were considering signing orton in the offseason as a "franchise quarterback."

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 24 October 2011 18:13 (fourteen years ago)

orton would not have won that game 25-15

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 18:18 (fourteen years ago)

also it's worth nothing that in tebow's defense, the denver kicker missed two gimmme field goals that would've made the DRAMATIC COMEBACK unneccessary

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 18:22 (fourteen years ago)

in fairness, if our franchise quarterback -- chad henne -- had been playing, we would have won, 127 -- 10.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 24 October 2011 18:26 (fourteen years ago)

well, we definitely would have one. maybe 27-10

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 18:31 (fourteen years ago)

orton likely would win that game imo. there were wide open throws available for 6 at least 3 times. orton can read basic defenses, check down, and make basic nfl type throws.

at a certain level, i could give a fuck, because all i want to see is if tebow can be a legit nfl qb, i don't care if he wins right now.

but to say he's "better" than orton is at once irrelevant and wrong.

well, lets see how he does next week vs a team that isn't a complete embarrassment. as good as he was for the last few minutes, the Fins shut them out for 53 minutes, and that's without him even turning the ball over. Tebow didn't even complete 50% vs. them.

frogbs, Monday, 24 October 2011 19:05 (fourteen years ago)

yeah... the dolphins defense isn't atrocious tho

J0rdan S., Monday, 24 October 2011 19:07 (fourteen years ago)

well they haven't gotten completely blown out of the water the way the Chiefs, Rams, and the Colts have. still when your best defensive performance is only allowing 17 points to the Cleveland Frowns you don't really have anything to be proud of.

frogbs, Monday, 24 October 2011 19:10 (fourteen years ago)

our defense -- particularly our secondary -- has been pretty atrocious. but a lot of that apparently has to do with injuries. our big recent free-agent signings have been disappointments this year, too (tho i guess they can/will improve with time?).

was that torrey smith catch legit btw? what's the rule for catches falling out of bounds where the ball is moving around a bit?

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 25 October 2011 03:49 (fourteen years ago)

it's pretty annoying that the announcers are so bad at knowing the rules. Can the ball really cross 10 yards and then go back under 10 yards and be recovered?

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 25 October 2011 03:50 (fourteen years ago)

that's a really good question. wonder if it's ever happened.

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 25 October 2011 03:51 (fourteen years ago)

I don't like this jacksonville drive at all. try to get a first to ice the game.

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 25 October 2011 04:05 (fourteen years ago)

the ravens trading 2 first rounders for a QB seems very reasonable atm.

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 25 October 2011 04:18 (fourteen years ago)

maybe they trade up for landry jones? he seems like a guy who might be able to produce right away.

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 25 October 2011 04:20 (fourteen years ago)

I'm glad we made it through this, guys. Has to be the worst week of the season right?

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 25 October 2011 04:25 (fourteen years ago)

Lol, what happened to the phenom QB from Delaware who was restoring the Ravens to a powerhouse, playoff wins'n'all. the NFL sure is a strange, fickle beast

Stormy Davis, Tuesday, 25 October 2011 04:27 (fourteen years ago)

def the worst week so far, for offense anyway. looking at my fantasy league's games (yeah, lol fantasy), there were like 2 teams out of 12 that reached triple digits. Definitely a first.

Stormy Davis, Tuesday, 25 October 2011 04:30 (fourteen years ago)

i thought this week would be good! Titans-Texans was presumably a divisional showdown.

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 25 October 2011 05:13 (fourteen years ago)

I'd appreciate the lols of the jags beating the texans next week. they'd be one game out of first in their division, with the divisional tiebreaker!

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 25 October 2011 22:55 (fourteen years ago)

aw, don't say that ... just went with the Texans for my survivor league

Stormy Davis, Wednesday, 26 October 2011 01:45 (fourteen years ago)

9-4 this week.

Everybody with good reason in the ESPN media was tagging on the Ravens offense, but they seemingly forget again the f-ing stupid personal fouls on the defense that pretty much put the Jags in field goal range twice. The Ravens are about with the Cowboys for dumb penalty club status.

earlnash, Wednesday, 26 October 2011 01:48 (fourteen years ago)

if a team trades for him they're gonna have to give up a herschel walker or ricky williams type bounty to get him

― J0rdan S., Monday, October 24, 2011

I know I'm late to the thread here but I would like to point out that Baltimore is a well-respected org what has obvious QB needs and can in fact offer an actual Ricky Williams type bounty!
