^^^ same

Steamtable Willie (WmC), Saturday, 7 January 2012 18:06 (thirteen years ago)

my bets for Saturday:

Texans -4 (hated giving 4 points here, but I feel like the Bengals are going to struggle to score much at all in this game)

Lions/Saints total points under 60.5 (obviously this is going to be very high scoring but 60.5 seems like such a ridiculous total)

frogbs, Saturday, 7 January 2012 18:15 (thirteen years ago)

tom hammond & mike mayock doin this 1st game

I thought one of the officials blew the play dead while the ball was still on the ground!

Steamtable Willie (WmC), Sunday, 8 January 2012 02:07 (thirteen years ago)

If the play hadn't been blown dead, why wasn't it still a live ball after the Detroit guy picked it up?

Steamtable Willie (WmC), Sunday, 8 January 2012 02:09 (thirteen years ago)

one of the officials blew it dead

rebecca blah (k3vin k.), Sunday, 8 January 2012 02:18 (thirteen years ago)

Roberto Spiralli, Sunday, 8 January 2012 02:43 (thirteen years ago)

saints gifted a couple 1st downs there

call all destroyer, Sunday, 8 January 2012 03:10 (thirteen years ago)

that score should have never happen, they stopped the Saints on the first drive and the Lions didn't challenge the spot

Bee OK, Sunday, 8 January 2012 03:10 (thirteen years ago)

that spot was horrible. lions getting stung by the officials here. the bigger impediment tho is that they don't seem to be able to tackle.

Roberto Spiralli, Sunday, 8 January 2012 03:12 (thirteen years ago)

now i'm thinking the 49ers can get past these Saints

Bee OK, Sunday, 8 January 2012 03:13 (thirteen years ago)

hope the Lions make this game interesting

Bee OK, Sunday, 8 January 2012 03:20 (thirteen years ago)

rebecca blah (k3vin k.), Sunday, 8 January 2012 03:20 (thirteen years ago)

johnny crunch, Sunday, 8 January 2012 03:51 (thirteen years ago)

feel bad for detroit, good showing overall, didn't get the breaks.

Roberto Spiralli, Sunday, 8 January 2012 03:52 (thirteen years ago)

hahaha, sounds like Michaels took the under as well

Steamtable Willie (WmC), Sunday, 8 January 2012 04:12 (thirteen years ago)

this was my buddy's prediction (a lifelong lions fan): lions will score a lot, saints will score way more, and the lions will get majorly fucked by the refs in some way. nailed it!

frogbs, Sunday, 8 January 2012 17:20 (thirteen years ago)

"Trombone Shorty"

johnny crunch, Sunday, 8 January 2012 18:02 (thirteen years ago)

spotting the ball is one of the dumbest things about football, it's like hmm this seems right ball goes here, oops u r 3 inches short of first down

rebecca blah (k3vin k.), Sunday, 8 January 2012 18:43 (thirteen years ago)

that's a safety

this much defense is just confusing in the modern day nfl

johnny crunch, Sunday, 8 January 2012 19:23 (thirteen years ago)

the thing your family needs is about 6 less kids lady

Roberto Spiralli, Sunday, 8 January 2012 19:34 (thirteen years ago)

this is a dull game that on the surface doesn't seem particularly consequential in the bigger playoff picture. but the giants are really one of the few teams that would have a reasonable chance in any given game vs the packers, especially with their good record on the road. but even with that in mind it is super hard for me to get enthusiastic about the giants winning a game. all else being equal i like atlanta enough, but they really have zero chance of troubling the super bowl even if their offense remembers how to score.

Roberto Spiralli, Sunday, 8 January 2012 19:39 (thirteen years ago)

falcs are crazy 2 have not taken the fg there

johnny crunch, Sunday, 8 January 2012 20:08 (thirteen years ago)

they've failed 3 times to get 1st down from inside a yard

Roberto Spiralli, Sunday, 8 January 2012 20:08 (thirteen years ago)

johnny crunch, Sunday, 8 January 2012 20:11 (thirteen years ago)

4 defenders in position to make a tackle and they all took the crappiest line possible without actually running away

Roberto Spiralli, Sunday, 8 January 2012 20:12 (thirteen years ago)

4 times

Roberto Spiralli, Sunday, 8 January 2012 20:15 (thirteen years ago)

that was a perfect throw

Roberto Spiralli, Sunday, 8 January 2012 20:26 (thirteen years ago)

surprisingly non-crushing loss - im over it already, unlike 08 or 10 losses which stuck with me for days. giants are easier to feel okay about losing to than repulsive teams like the packers, aside from brandon jacobs who im sure even giants fans would like to see get his comeuppance

maghrib is back (Hungry4Ass), Sunday, 8 January 2012 21:53 (thirteen years ago)

steelers have a lot of fatties on their team - big ben, hines, polamalu

rebecca blah (k3vin k.), Sunday, 8 January 2012 22:13 (thirteen years ago)

??? hines and polamalu are cut

maghrib is back (Hungry4Ass), Sunday, 8 January 2012 22:14 (thirteen years ago)

they're big bone for sure

rebecca blah (k3vin k.), Sunday, 8 January 2012 22:14 (thirteen years ago)

i dont understand why you'd single out muscular guys who arent fat when casey hampton is on the team

maghrib is back (Hungry4Ass), Sunday, 8 January 2012 22:17 (thirteen years ago)

just saying for well-known skill position players they're a bit chunky maybe it's all that campbell's chunky soup

rebecca blah (k3vin k.), Sunday, 8 January 2012 22:22 (thirteen years ago)

lol nantz and simms are so clueless

Roberto Spiralli, Sunday, 8 January 2012 22:24 (thirteen years ago)

they have thick builds, but so does MJD. it's all muscle, these aren't sloppy guys. bj raji is fat, vince wilfork and casey hampton are fat. having a thick, powerful build with minimal body fat is not what 'fat' means

maghrib is back (Hungry4Ass), Sunday, 8 January 2012 22:26 (thirteen years ago)

After the first quarter I was like "Well Denver can't do anything, but I guess if Pittsburgh can't build a lead then they're just giving a chance for Tebow Time" and then well that all happened.

C-L, Sunday, 8 January 2012 22:27 (thirteen years ago)

they've made the most of their inherent chunkiness no doubt

rebecca blah (k3vin k.), Sunday, 8 January 2012 22:28 (thirteen years ago)

polamalu especially w/ his tree trunk thighs

rebecca blah (k3vin k.), Sunday, 8 January 2012 22:29 (thirteen years ago)

speaking of lil piggie he's given up one big play and got beat on another

rebecca blah (k3vin k.), Sunday, 8 January 2012 22:32 (thirteen years ago)

Hey, why don't you just shut up already. Fat-shaming isn't a funny or cool pastime, and you look even stupider when you try to do it to superbly conditioned athletes. You should be ashamed.

maghrib is back (Hungry4Ass), Sunday, 8 January 2012 22:32 (thirteen years ago)

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 9 January 2012 00:44 (thirteen years ago)

ha nice timing xp

johnny crunch, Monday, 9 January 2012 00:44 (thirteen years ago)

that was a nice pass tho

J0rdan S., Monday, 9 January 2012 00:44 (thirteen years ago)

denver is gonna win this game 26-23 tho. tebow only has to lead them like 25 yards to get them in FG range

J0rdan S., Monday, 9 January 2012 00:44 (thirteen years ago)

it's funny, i think maybe during that last break the pitt coaching staff told ben to throw the ball down the field when he's scrambling, cuz he had dudes just wide the fuck open and he was taking 6 yd gains

J0rdan S., Monday, 9 January 2012 00:45 (thirteen years ago)

denver RBs have done fuck all

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 9 January 2012 00:47 (thirteen years ago)

except fumble obv

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 9 January 2012 00:47 (thirteen years ago)

Kinda would like to see Prater hit a 64yd FG to win.

(note: I always would like to see a record-breaking FG. I was strongly in favor of Lane Kiffin's please-fire-me 73 yd attempt, because Seabass could theoretically have done it.

C-L, Monday, 9 January 2012 00:49 (thirteen years ago)

Ridiculous escape!

no, sportscenter, steelers did not do the wrong thing by not letting SUISHAM try a 60+ yard field goal, he had no chance

entertainment-wise they did the wrong thing

@AdamSchefter
RT @j****: tim tebow's favorite bible verse is John 3:16. he threw for 316 yards today. Coincidence?

seriously, THIS GUY (daria-g), Monday, 9 January 2012 02:23 (thirteen years ago)

watched the last 3 minutes and ot in a local bar, love how quickly a full crazy bar transforms to a quiet half-empty zone after a devastating ot loss

earlnash, Monday, 9 January 2012 02:52 (thirteen years ago)

lol steelers
that game was fucking rigged for them too and they still couldn't beat the team that put up 3 at home on the Kansas City Chiefs

frogbs, Monday, 9 January 2012 02:53 (thirteen years ago)

Starting RB out
Starting Safety out
Qb hobbled
Center and a couple linebackers banged up

Really the Steelers were setup to get beat, it's just the story around the sucky QB that makes it more suprising.

This run of the Broncos does oddly remind me a bit of Orton's rookie year with the Bears. Orton played pretty well for a while and the Bears did OK and down the strech he was just freaking horrible. They went ahead and replaced them by Sexy Rexy.

lol so much @ ben fedoraberger

johnny crunch, Monday, 9 January 2012 03:03 (thirteen years ago)

well losing Mendenhall didn't seem to hurt them much, and I agree that the Steelers were probably going to get exposed at some point but I can't think of any playoff team that looked worse going in than the Broncos did (maybe last years Seahawks?)

actually I'm pretty impressed with Tebow this time. he's still missing open recievers but also threw some really great passes, dunno if he's been working really hard at these throws or if its a "every blind squirrel finds a nut" thing but at some points in this game he looked like a real quarterback

frogbs, Monday, 9 January 2012 03:08 (thirteen years ago)

hah that whole game was amazing.

call all destroyer, Monday, 9 January 2012 03:10 (thirteen years ago)

call all destroyer, Monday, 9 January 2012 03:11 (thirteen years ago)

one of the steelers radio guys said he'd never seen a qb throw as many passes in warmups as tebow did

mookieproof, Monday, 9 January 2012 03:16 (thirteen years ago)

tebow also had 31.6 yards per completion

so someone was just messing w/pittsburgh with those media reports that quinn was taking half the reps on offense and the game plan didn't include much passing

seriously, THIS GUY (daria-g), Monday, 9 January 2012 03:32 (thirteen years ago)

frogbs, Monday, 9 January 2012 13:17 (thirteen years ago)

deadspin's article on this is pretty good:

By treating Tebow as if he were the worst thrower in NFL history, the Steelers turned him into an NFL playoff winner.

http://deadspin.com/5874203/why-the-steelers-lost-to-tim-tebow

frogbs, Monday, 9 January 2012 14:13 (thirteen years ago)

So far this season, Tim Tebow has been bad, then good, then bad again, then kind of OK for a while, then amazingly, atrociously bad. In Sunday's playoff game against the Steelers, the Denver quarterback/future eight-term U.S. president entered a bizarre quantum state in which he was both great and terrible at the same time.

lol

lag∞n, Monday, 9 January 2012 18:01 (thirteen years ago)

it's so true. and it was all enabled by pittsburgh's dumbass game plan.

call all destroyer, Monday, 9 January 2012 18:09 (thirteen years ago)

what I love the most is Denver's final play - they ran on first down 20/20 times, sending the left side reciever in motion, then on the final play of OT, tossed a simple slant - only the safeties were so trained to try to blow up the play at the line on each first down that the slant became a touchdown

frogbs, Monday, 9 January 2012 18:22 (thirteen years ago)

yeah it was a great play call and a real bad time to be playing cover 0

call all destroyer, Monday, 9 January 2012 18:33 (thirteen years ago)

beat tebow.

btw, i wanna go on record here: if tebow wins a ring this year, I am becoming a christian

Thug Luftwaffle (forksclovetofu), Monday, 9 January 2012 21:26 (thirteen years ago)

the Texans obviously are happy with Yates, but it's not like he's Tommy Brady coming out of nowhere to dominate

the Texans have been rather underrated - their defense and run game are both top 5, they don't really need a top flight QB, just someone who won't destroy the team from the inside out like, say, whoever the Bears run out after Cutler

frogbs, Monday, 9 January 2012 21:27 (thirteen years ago)

psh. if tebow wins a ring this year it will immediately inaugurate the rapture and at that point it will be too late to become a christian but we can chill on earth reading comics, playing video games, and surviving the onslaught of satan's army xp
