Sanchez has been historically bad over the past month in terms of passing accuracy. He became the first quarterback since Stoney Case of the 1999 Baltimore Ravens to have four straight games with a completion rate under 50 percent (minimum: 25 attempts per game), according to ESPN Stats & Information.

"I'm pleased the commissioner has finally acknowledged that I never participated in any so-called 'bounty' program, as I've said for the past seven months," Fujita said in a statement. "However, his condescending tone was neither accurate nor productive. Additionally, I am now purportedly being suspended for failing to confront my former defensive coordinator for his inappropriate use of language. This seems like an extremely desperate attempt to punish me. I also think it sets a bad precedent when players can be disciplined for not challenging the behavior of their superiors. This is an absolute abuse of the power that's been afforded to the commissioner.
"For me, the issue of player health and safety is personal. For the league and the commissioner, it's about perception and liability.
"The commissioner says he is disappointed in me," Fujita continued. "The truth is, I'm disappointed in him. His positions on player health and safety since a 2009 congressional hearing on concussions have been inconsistent at best. He failed to acknowledge a link between concussions and post-career brain disease, pushed for an 18-game regular season, committed to a full season of Thursday night games, has continually challenged players' rights to file workers compensation claims for on-the-job injuries, and he employed incompetent replacement officials for the start of the 2012 season. His actions or lack thereof are by the league's own definition, 'conduct detrimental.'
"My track record on the issue of player health and safety speaks for itself. And clearly, as I just listed, the commissioner's does, too."

11-3 last week missed on Colts/Packers, Seahawks/Ravens & Dolphins/Bengals. I'm now 43-34 (22-7 last 2 weeks).
Pittsburgh Steelers @ Tennessee Titans- Steelers are ugly but Titans are uglier. Pittsburgh.Oakland Raiders @ Atlanta Falcons- Falcons should win and it's a big upset if they don't.Detroit Lions @ Philadelphia Eagles- I'm taking the Eagles as it is the Lions on the road, but Philly is a flawed mediocre club.St. Louis Rams @ Miami Dolphins- This is probably a pretty good and even matchup. I guess Dolphins as they have shown a more complete game as the Rams offense isn't that hot.Dallas Cowboys @ Baltimore Ravens- Boy this is a battle of clubs that play dumb and have serious flaws. I'll go Ravens at home but it can go either way. Ravens D seems to be really missing Suggs.Kansas City Chiefs @ Tampa Bay Bucs- Good lord, who knows or even more outside of Tampa or KC, who cares? I guess Bucs at home.Indianapolis Colts @ New York Jets- I guess Colts, but I would believe in a let down an the Jets winning a fugly one. Colts have some serious issues on their o-line, as it is battered. Colts schedule is quite favorable over the rest of the season (Jets, Browns, Titans, Dolphins, Jags, Pats, Bills, Lions, Titans, Houston, KC, Houston) and it will be interesting to see how many wins they have in the end.Cincinnati Bengals @ Cleveland Browns- These games go either way, sometimes they are no scoring affairs when you expect fireworks some the other way. I guess Browns in a squeaker, it's just too hard to sweep in this series. Cincy let me down last week.Buffalo Bills @ Arizona Cardinals- Cardz but I would believe them getting upset.New England Patriots @ Seattle Seahawks- Pats as I think they get up a couple scores, Seattle can't come back.New York Giants @ San Francisco 49ers- Got to go Niners, as they seem more complete, but an interesting matchup.Minnesota Vikings @ Washington Redskins- Wow am I taking the Vikings on the road? I guess I am.Green Bay Packers @ Houston Texans- Not quite must win, but Green Bay needs to get one. I'm going Texans as the Colts ran the ball quite well on Green Bay in their comeback and Houston has a real running game. It's also a statement game for Houston, they won't take it lightly.Denver Broncos @ San Diego Chargers- I don't think either club is that great, but I will go Broncos by a couple points.

Sanchez, who wears jersey No. 6, has six touchdown passes and six interceptions so far. He's averaging 6.6 yards per attempt, and his longest completion is 66 yards. His passer rating: 66.6.

LionsSt. Louis Rams @ Miami Dolphins- Rams. Will anybody be at the game?Dallas Cowboys @ Baltimore Ravens- Ravens kill the Cowboys here.Kansas City Chiefs @ Tampa Bay Bucs- Cant believe anybody will be at this one either. Chiefs are the better team on paper, so a tepid vote for them.Indianapolis Colts @ New York Jets- Jets are nowhere. They are embarrassing. Colts showed serious heart last week, Colts.Cincinnati Bengals @ Cleveland Browns- Bengals, big. Very big.Buffalo Bills @ Arizona Cardinals- Upset special, BillsNew England Patriots @ Seattle Seahawks- I like the Hawks here.New York Giants @ San Francisco 49ers- Game of the week. Niners.Minnesota Vikings @ Washington Redskins- Vikings. Lets hope Allen doesnt kill RG III.Green Bay Packers @ Houston Texans- Texans look fucking awesome, even without Cushing. CBS football said that Elementary was TV's most watched new drama.
Basically I want to give this game a great big hug, you guys. <3
― Dr. (C-L), Monday, 15 October 2012 03:03 (twelve years ago)
Oooh weirdly they are both right: http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2012/10/09/tv-ratings-broadcast-top-25-sunday-night-football-tops-week-2-viewing-among-adults-18-49-but-ncis-wins-with-total-viewers/152130/
CBS counts Total Viewers (because they love old people), with whom Elementary does best, and NBC counts 18-49 because they hate old people (like Fox and ABC) and weirdly the most people in my age group are interested in the show about no electricity.

Downside of today's game: every defensive player is now injured

Maybe this is just me but if I have to miss my kid's recital performance of "Axel F" on the tuba because of work, I don't really want the ability to FaceTime it because of a mobile hotspot. I probably will be secretly kind of glad that I didn't have sit through a child playing Axel F on the tuba.
"awww sorry little buddy, I bet you were great! I just had a whole lot of sick people to deal with, and you know how bad the reception is at the hospital"

admittedly I did watch the show about no electricity, it is rather silly (I don't care about Lost or any of those type of shows). only tuning in b/c of esposito <3
also having missed most of the day of NFL I went to see if Cowboys lost and ran across this delightful headline and a Dallas beat writer who is all kinds of disgusted

― set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 15 October 2012 20:59 (twelve years ago)
I think at this point you can say it's totally wide open to who is going to win it all. Pretty much outside Atlanta being the last undefeated club standing, although nearly losing to some lesser clubs, all of the good clubs have gotten tagged by someone else pretty good.
― earlnash, Monday, 15 October 2012 22:47 (twelve years ago)
how early can you definitively call a team "out of the playoffs"? Does anyone ever recover from 1-5 historically?
― let's have sex and then throw pottery (forksclovetofu), Monday, 15 October 2012 23:36 (twelve years ago)

Let's see...way early playoff picture.
Probable locks to win division-
FalconsTexans
Both of those guys going 6-0 and 5-1 to start are already 3+ games up on the rest of the division.
AFC East- everyone is 3-3. Got to think the Pats will still end up winning that one, but the Dolphins look pretty solid across the board.
AFC North- B-more and Pittsburgh are both shadows of former years. One of them will probably win the division, but I don't see them making that many moves beyond a playoff appearance.
AFC West- You knew going in that it was pretty wide open. Denver's defense can't get teams off the field being the surprise.
NFC East- Giants up a game and seem to be more talented but injury prone. Eagles and Cowboys can win a game but have serious flaws. Washington seems to be on the upswing, but consistency and keeping RJIII healty will probably be their keys if playoff shot comes up.
NFC North- Bears defense looks real, but they got usual problems on offense. If Rogers can only throw for 500 yards and 6 TDs a game they are freaking great, but their defense is already looking raggedy again and they still can't run the ball. Detroit seems improved over past couple weeks, but they have games where they give up a zillion points. Minnesota won a couple games but they could go 6-10 at this point and I wouldn't be surprised. I'd buy Bears winning the division with Green Bay getting the wildcard here.
NFC West- Hard to argue with the records, but they are some odd teams. Niners fliping in and out the QB definitely looked like the beginning of some type of QB psychosis starting (and Harbaugh probably has those internal scars from Ditka doing the same thing to him). That defense is pretty loaded. Rams defense is definitely improved, offense seems to be missing parts. Cardz success seems kind of fluky as you just can't count on their Qbs in the end. Seattle is a mad scientist lab that seems to be working, although it shouldn't. I'd buy Niners winning division and Seattle maybe ending up a wild card team.
AFC I don't know...I wouldn't be surprised home field is gotten with an 11-5 and you end up with a couple 9-7 and a 8-8 in the playoffs.
I wouldn't go so far to say the NFC is the stuff, I think the better teams are better but the dregs are worse in the NFC too. The AFC is just mostly a big azz huddled mass of aging teams and others trying to figure it out.
― earlnash, Tuesday, 16 October 2012 00:19 (twelve years ago)
AFC does have the worse dregs though...
