so I spent 50 minutes in the tiny vestibule opposite Guest Relations in the Broncos' hotel tonight waiting for security to let us in to a previously Hyatt-cleared radio stunt party, before all eight of us were dismissed by a NJ state trooper.
Watched four Bronco buses from the stadium unload, didn't see Manning or whoever that slab is posted above. I did have the misfortune of seeing Joe Buck chilling and chatting 10 feet from us, but the glass barrier rendered him silent, so that was a mercy.

NEW YORK — NFL commissioner Roger Goodell backed the Washington http://images.chron.com/blogs/askacat/hatcat.JPG’ moniker Friday, stating that nine out of 10 Native Americans support the name.
That remark came during Goodell’s annual press conference on the Friday of Super Bowl week. Goodell actually was asked rather contentiously if he “would call a [Native American] a Redskin to his face?” The commissioner mostly sidestepped that question, instead offering up the reasoning behind not forcing Washington owner Daniel Snyder to change his team’s name.
“This is the name of a football team … [and it has been] presented in a way that honors Native Americans,” Goodell said.
In June, Goodell also argued for Snyder’s right to keep the http://images.chron.com/blogs/askacat/hatcat.JPG name in a letter sent to 10 members of Congress, who had called on the commissioner to step in.
“The Washington http://images.chron.com/blogs/askacat/hatcat.JPG name has … from its origin represented a positive meaning distinct from any disparagement that could be viewed in some other context,” Goodell wrote. “For the team’s million of fans and customers, who represent one of America’s most ethnically and geographically diverse fan bases, the name is a unifying force that stands for strength, courage, pride and respect.”

― earlnash, Monday, 3 February 2014 03:11 (eleven years ago)
Yeah I actually was gonna say that the game I mentioned above was the first time I remember just being like "This is boring, fuck it" during a super bowl. I had had a pretty good run of most super bowls featuring teams I liked (Bears, http://images.chron.com/blogs/askacat/hatcat.JPG, Giants) and the fact that that one was a disgusting blowout just added to it.
― Burt Stuntin (Hurting 2), Monday, 3 February 2014 03:19 (eleven years ago)

― earlnash, Monday, 3 February 2014 03:24 (eleven years ago)
since i'm so frequently wrong about things i'm just gonna post this again
seattle and denver are far and away the best teams in the nfl imo but i think that's a particular bad matchup for denver
― J0rdan S., Monday, November 11, 2013 2:27 PM (2 months ago) Bookmark
seattle can run the ball and by the time the playoffs come around they'll have percy back and will have a group of WRs who can make plays on the ball. i don't see how they couldn't control the clock while also putting up some points on denver.
and i think if you're gonna slow down denver, having the best secondary in the nfl and an array of pass rushers is a pretty good place to start

seems like an embarrassing super-bowl loss for peyton manning caused that shitty papa john's to cut him from its commercials. so ultimately, the embarrassing super-bowl loss was worth it.

shitty papa john's ceo -- 3embarrassed peyton manning -- 0

hey, guess what? peyton manning owns a papa john's restaurant, and they're awful to their employees. who would've guessed?
― Daniel, Esq 2, Tuesday, 4 February 2014 00:40 (eleven years ago)
Rob Fee @robfee -- Use the promo code PEYTON when ordering a Papa Johns pizza & when it’s delivered to your house, a Seattle DB will take it from you & eat it.
― Daniel, Esq 2, Tuesday, 4 February 2014 00:43 (eleven years ago)
TRAGICK @Tragick92 -- The Papa John's double cheeseburger pizza commercial was their back up plan after Peyton Manning failed them last night. #papajohns__________________________Jennifer B @Jen_in_Cali310 -- Whats the difference between Peyton Manning and Papa Johns? …… Papa johns delivers during the Super Bowl.__________________________Jenny Johnson @JennyJohnsonHi5 -- Better pull it together Peyton, cuz Papa John has murdered 3 pizza delivery guys with his bare hands since the Super Bowl started.__________________________Matt O'Brien @ObsoleteDogma -- Don't feel too bad for Peyton Manning. He owns Papa John's stores in a state that just legalized pot.__________________________HistoryGoon @HistoryGoon -- I'm rooting for Seattle; a cool, progressive city w/ great fans. But also because Peyton Manning hangs with that #douchebag Papa John.

man speaking of retro-super bowl i just remembered an old joke:
q: how many denver broncos does it take to change a light bulb?
a: one, unless it's a blow out then the whole team shows up
― balls, Tuesday, 4 February 2014 05:32 (eleven years ago)
Denver got a lot of crap for getting beat in the Superbowl, but really they never were the favorites back in the day.
No one gave them a shot in heck against the Niners in 1990, I swear I think the spread was something like 27 or 28 points for SF going into the game and they covered it. That Niners club was probably their best one, they were just loaded everywhere. They won their three playoff games by a combined total of 126-23, annihilating everything in their path.
