I think I can only lay claim to twelve, including Ryan Gauld whom I've never seen in action.
Sterling I'm most pleased with obviously, he's turning out way better than I'd thought likely. He's even shed two kids now, it's all very promising.
Last I saw of Rabiot he was leaving a foot or elbow in on some hapless Ligue 1 patsy, which on balance is I think a positive thing for a promising-but-spindly type.

Know of all of them, haven't seen Balde, Villalba or Gauld in action.

rabiot had bulked up a fair bit last time i saw him, by the time he fills out hes going to be hench
gauld ive watched spl highlights of and hes very neat but the standard is so low that it doesnt indicate how efficient he will be

hate to harp on abt this but this is the only time in charlton athletic's history that we've possibly had a contender for such a list and I am willing to state right now that poyet might wind up better than half, maybe 2/3 of these

Bentaleb that well regarded already eh
― anonanon, Tuesday, 1 April 2014 21:49 (ten years ago) link
true but to use the nflism, theres less tape on him, ten champo games vs someone like marqinhos who has already proven himself one of the better defenders in two of the best five leagues in europe
bentaleb is a bit of a nothing player, somewhere between jamie o'hara and rodrigo possebon, passes it about a bit but doesn't show any sort of technique or athleticism which suggests a high ceiling

I know naught of 'Scuffet' beyond his surname, but I do very much like his surname. Eagerly anticipating his disappointing loan spell at, oh, let's say West Ham in four seasons' time. Gets sent off in his first game for elbowing Flanno in the face. That sort of thing.

weirdly hoping 'scuffet' rhymes with yer edible buffet and not yer windy one
― halber mensch halber keks (imago), Tuesday, 1 April 2014 22:16 (ten years ago) link
Of course I hope for bigger and better things for Bentaleb but that sounds realistic, must admit he is a perfect emblem of Sherwood's nothing reign.

Scuffet is the youngest keeper I can recall seeing in a top flight game. He's first choice for Udinese at 17.

there's always the chance that a defensive midfielder can grow into a good player if they learn to read the game well, bentaleb is maybe above average for his age but he can miss players breaking between the lines and silva has pissed on plenty of players but few more thoroughly than bentaleb in the 1-5

emre can probably not going to set the world on fire but he's a much more plausible midfield hardman and should enjoy a long top flight career

How many of these are the children of ppl we know
― fauxpas cola (darraghmac), Tuesday, 1 April 2014 22:47 (ten years ago) link
some of them are possibly raheem sterling's children
― maxresdefault.jpg (nakhchivan), Tuesday, 1 April 2014 22:51 (ten years ago) link
Bentaleb ffs
Doing the easy things well is impressive i spose at that age but he doesnt do them that well and does nothing well enough to make this list.

Seen the most of Sterling, Meyer and Calhanoglu. Think Calhanoglu will be v v good. Only seen Markovic vs Spurs, he was bigger and quicker than I was expecting. Think Raboit may have to leave PSG to get consistent game time but he's got a lovely left foot etc

Bentaleb is potentially a good player but has been thrown in at the deep end and used inappropriately by Sherwood. He obviously needs to be one of a three (and definitely not as the main defensive midfielder) but I don't see much of a future for him beyond superior quality Joe Allen right now.

What about Coulibaly? The Ivorian Spurs bought who had an amazing u-18 World Cup in '11

Only because he was under instructions not to win the dutch league and then the Cl from the men in 'London'.....Otherwise he'd be tearing it up I'm sure.
xp

alcacer at valencia is just outside this age range but after his hat-trick tonight he has 14 in 20 starts
after a few near misses like bojan and adrian lopez, could be the first senior team #9 spain have produced since negredo and soldado (1985), and perchance a successor to villa
