apologies for European footie fans who will I'm sure find this a dumb American curiosity.
some days you wake up in the morning and you think to yourself FUCK INTER MIAMI.
in this thread, it is ok to say FUCK INTER MIAMI out loud.
when you see Luis Suarez whining to the officials...why not bellow it loud and proud, FUCK INTER MIAMI?
when you see Messi celebrating like a chump after outdribbling a bunch of people who couldn't sniff the National League...FUCK INTER MIAMI
when you see fans heading for the exits the moment Messi is subbed out...FUCK INTER MIAMI!
Alright...let's try one all together shall we.

Any truth to the Vardy to Inter Miami rumour?
― Saxophone Of Futility (Michael B), Monday, 11 August 2025 21:28 (one month ago)
Not likely. MLS is unlike every other league in that it has a salary cap and you can only exceed it to sign a Designated Player, of which you get three, which Miami have already used up (supposedly - i suspect under the table paying). Vardy would have to take a humongous paycut, and they tend to prefer signing Argentinian and Spanish legends.
It'd be on brand though in that the signings always seem to be for selling merchandise/appeasing Messi and not performance. Or else they'd put in the effort to actually shore up the woeful backline or inject youth into a team that is likely to wilt under the tired legs of 38 year old fossils who can't handle the congested schedule
But who knows. F

Woulda been way more hilarious if he'd gone to NYC, where he'd have been eaten alive after one bad match, and NY Post running MESSI RED CARDED FROM LIFE when he died

Just hilarious that despite 2 years, a different coach and tons of different personnel since then, they still have the same problems defensively lol

like Inter Miami and Garber's fatal flaw was their hubris, like bringing in Messi/Busquets/Alba was enough of a circus by itself and would have allowed them to eventually shore up the backline, but they decided to just keep adding big name attacking talent by paying them under the table convincing them to join Messi, and they figured it'd keep the stadium full, keep the league excited, and that they'd win numerous trophies by merely outscoring everybody 6-5.
and now their backline is comically bad even by MLS standards so they're NOT winning trophies, and their fans are actually pissed off that their ticket prices are astronomical for no silverware, many are sick of the Messi era and feel betrayed by all the fairweathers, so Inter Miami doesn't even sell out their matches anymore, nobody watches MLS All Access on Apple TV, and neutral fans outright hate having him in the league.

I think it's going to fuck the franchise permanently. we saw it with Atlanta when they didn't even have a 'superteam', they just were a well-assembled squad early and had a future Premier League stud (Almiron), and then their fanbase inarguably shrunk more and more as they fell from those heights. Inter Miami was already a team that couldn't fill 60% of its stadium pre-Messi (was dead last in attendance in 2022 with like 12,000 people a match lol), and there is no marquee signing they can bring in that will have anywhere near the effect of Messi unless they bring in Vini Jr (which LOL) or Ronaldo (which FUCK OFF). Gonzalo Higuain and Matuidi didn't exactly bring in the big numbers.
