99 gram lychee (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 18 August 2026 13:56 (three weeks ago)

if spurs dont sign two epl level and usually available forward players theyre finishing 12th

that's all i know about football

Wichita Referee's Assistant (darraghmac), Tuesday, 18 August 2026 18:47 (three weeks ago)

i got odds of 1000-1 on Man Utd getting relegated. easily worth a couple of quid.

Camaraderie at Arms Length, Tuesday, 18 August 2026 20:51 (three weeks ago)

yes, they were definitely one of the worst 3 teams in the league over the second half of last season, oh wait

Angine de Postecogloutrine (NickB), Tuesday, 18 August 2026 21:09 (three weeks ago)

Carrick is something like the 3rd longest manager in place in this league of sure fire stability

a hoy hoy, Tuesday, 18 August 2026 21:22 (three weeks ago)

They all come, most of them have a honeymoon, they all fuck it up, they all get fired. Not saying I think they'll go down but real odds are more like 50-1

Camaraderie at Arms Length, Tuesday, 18 August 2026 22:20 (three weeks ago)

lol who the hell is taking a bet at those odds?

99 gram lychee (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 19 August 2026 08:32 (three weeks ago)

Sheikh Mansour?

Number None, Wednesday, 19 August 2026 08:33 (three weeks ago)

i cant go on that website at work but does it factor in potential point deductions happening lol

a hoy hoy, Wednesday, 19 August 2026 08:39 (three weeks ago)

surely it must. i'm not saying it's impossible but i'd want 100-1 minimum even to think about throwing a couple of quid at it

99 gram lychee (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 19 August 2026 08:42 (three weeks ago)

well presumably the odds are based on people actually placing bets with the points deduction in mind

(Thought it might auto-title but it's an EPL 2026-27 poll)

Maggy Scraggle, Wednesday, 19 August 2026 09:35 (three weeks ago)

top 4, bar Arsenal winning, feels unusually difficult to call

Number None, Wednesday, 19 August 2026 10:03 (three weeks ago)

I don’t see a compelling case for Villa, Chelsea or Spurs so Maresca might have to really mess things up for it not to be Arsenal, City, Liverpool, United.

ShariVari, Wednesday, 19 August 2026 11:35 (three weeks ago)

pre-season is pre-season obv, but Utd getting battered by Amorim's Milan last weekend is not exactly filling me with confidence

Huge question marks still remaining about the squad, especially with additional games this year

Number None, Wednesday, 19 August 2026 11:40 (three weeks ago)

(and the manager of course)

Number None, Wednesday, 19 August 2026 11:42 (three weeks ago)

It's a top 5 since the CL changed, right? I'd likely look at Chelsea for that spot. Alonso was great at Leverkusan and they don't have Europe, which seemed to help Utd last season. I know it's a ragtag bunch but there are good players there.

a hoy hoy, Wednesday, 19 August 2026 12:10 (three weeks ago)

i know nothing about 18 of these teams in 2026 tbh

Wichita Referee's Assistant (darraghmac), Wednesday, 19 August 2026 13:22 (three weeks ago)

Hull City look like a lock for 20th to me which only leaves 2 other relegation slots to fight over

99 gram lychee (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 19 August 2026 13:25 (three weeks ago)

i'd be surprised if us or ipswich stay up too

think the gap is a little too big this season

nxd, Wednesday, 19 August 2026 13:41 (three weeks ago)

Yep, would be nice to think one of the established clubs might be worried (as long as it’s not Spurs again) but Coventry and Ipswich haven’t managed to strengthen much.

ShariVari, Wednesday, 19 August 2026 13:44 (three weeks ago)

I could see Newcastle struggling

Angine de Postecogloutrine (NickB), Wednesday, 19 August 2026 13:49 (three weeks ago)

i'm hoping that maybe Cov or Ipswich can make themselves at least hard to beat and there's always likely to be at least one "established" team that self-destructs but yeah the odds are stacked against all 3 promoted sides

99 gram lychee (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 19 August 2026 14:40 (three weeks ago)

Newcastle look primed to be that "established" club imo but I think they are still a way off being relegation fodder.

a hoy hoy, Wednesday, 19 August 2026 15:19 (three weeks ago)

Rarely if ever felt more doomed vibes off a set of promoted teams

crisp, Wednesday, 19 August 2026 15:46 (three weeks ago)

Listening to the Guardian preview and 3/4 of their writers had Chelsea 2nd in the league; the 4th had them 4th.

That alone just made me feel like they will end up 12th.

a hoy hoy, Wednesday, 19 August 2026 16:51 (three weeks ago)

Ipswich haven’t managed to strengthen much.

It’s wild that this is the consensus considering we have spent £150 million, and might get as high as £200m before the end of the window.

Chewshabadoo, Wednesday, 19 August 2026 20:21 (three weeks ago)

I’d love to see them do well but I think Enciso is the only slam dunk signing and a bunch of the people brought in (Kipre, Akpom, Maeda, etc) are Championship-level at best, even as squad players. Would be great to see Fatawu have a good season, though.

Spurs appear to have pivoted from quixotically pursuing a forward all summer from a club that won’t sell unless they have a superior replacement lined up already to pursuing two forwards from the same club.

ShariVari, Thursday, 20 August 2026 08:22 (three weeks ago)

I’m under no illusions it’s going to be easy for sure, but on paper we are a lot stronger than the squad last time which was half players signed in League One, so for the time being I am hopeful we will may be able to make a better go of it – and have a manager that might be more willing to adjust tactics to the game. But it does speak volumes about just how big the gap is between Premier and Championship these days.

Chewshabadoo, Thursday, 20 August 2026 12:36 (three weeks ago)

Looks like Spurs might actually be buying Savinho and Marmoush after all, albeit in a pretty egregious scam.

https://www.skysports.com/transfer/news/12691/13575264/savinho-transfer-spurs-agree-lb85m-deal-to-sign-brazi-forward-from-manchester-city

Savinho, who cost City £30m, was initially talked about as a £60m signing, Spurs are apparently paying £85m. Marmoush, who cost them £60m, is supposedly signing for £45m. Marmoush has a sell-on clause giving a cut of any fee back to Frankfurt, Savinho doesn’t.

ShariVari, Friday, 21 August 2026 08:39 (three weeks ago)

have they deliberately made the first match the prem champs vs the championship champs?

Camaraderie at Arms Length, Friday, 21 August 2026 20:16 (three weeks ago)

Hull's kit really is hideous and i'm already looking forward to them getting relegated so i never have to see it again

Makeshift team, to an extent, but have never been convinced de Zerbi knows what he is doing.

ShariVari, Saturday, 22 August 2026 17:05 (three weeks ago)

it's generally because they don't see the deflection initially and don't want to row back their superlatives

"maybe a hint of a deflection there"

Number None, Saturday, 29 August 2026 10:02 (two weeks ago)

yes, on something that changed trajectory so much it will subsequently be ruled an own goal

you get it with offsides as well, ooooooh it's going to be tight, it isn't

LookaDjin (Sgt. Biscuits), Saturday, 29 August 2026 10:26 (two weeks ago)

City look better than I expected especially without Rodri and a Poundshop Pep in charge tbf. Cherki going to have a big season.

Still think Arsenal are going to win the league easily though.

Saxophone Of Futility (Michael B), Saturday, 29 August 2026 11:04 (two weeks ago)

Everyone says Arsenal are going to win the league, which makes me think they won't.

Happiness is a warm gurn (Tom D.), Saturday, 29 August 2026 11:09 (two weeks ago)

Obviously I hope they won't because I'm sick of seeing people walking about with Arsenal tops on.

Happiness is a warm gurn (Tom D.), Saturday, 29 August 2026 11:10 (two weeks ago)

they let Pool back into towards the end but that was an excellent half from Forest

organised at the back and sharp going forwards

Ally McCoist literally just did it with that Munoz goal

Number None, Saturday, 29 August 2026 13:15 (two weeks ago)

didn't see this game or the last one so can anyone tell me wtf is wrong with Liverpool's defence right now

Camaraderie at Arms Length, Saturday, 29 August 2026 13:16 (two weeks ago)

Full backs are just not up to it

Saxophone Of Futility (Michael B), Saturday, 29 August 2026 13:37 (two weeks ago)

really dont know why lfc throwing away £100m+ on a winger when they probably need to be playing 3 CBs and frimpong/kerkez as wing backs, wirtz/szobo as dual 10s, ryan/alexis dual CMs to make up for the fact that nobody can run in the middle of the pitch and vvd is past it as a one-on-one defender.

oscar bravo, Saturday, 29 August 2026 16:15 (two weeks ago)

some much better stuff from central midfield

decision making on final pass and up front poor, no cutting edge

full backs refusing to consider standing in the same postcode as the wide threat will undo us as usual

Wichita Referee's Assistant (darraghmac), Saturday, 29 August 2026 17:19 (two weeks ago)

Yep. Gray in particular. Much better than last week, though.

ShariVari, Saturday, 29 August 2026 17:22 (two weeks ago)

I’d have Nyoni starting ahead of McAllsiter at this stage.

idk if another winger is going to fix it but go wild, I guess.

ShariVari, Sunday, 30 August 2026 09:43 (one week ago)

Danso also wants to leave, which is a shame. Van Hecke passes beautifully but I have not seen much evidence he’s a good pair with Micky.

ShariVari, Sunday, 30 August 2026 09:45 (one week ago)

Brentford apparently want Gray and Spurs should bite their hand off, even at a substantial loss.

ShariVari, Sunday, 30 August 2026 09:49 (one week ago)

Re:the OG for United earlier. So, you are done for a shot on target and rewarded for one off target. Never heard anything as stupid.

Saxophone Of Futility (Michael B), Sunday, 30 August 2026 17:01 (one week ago)

Yeah, pretty scandalous tbh

Bruno has been untouchable this half though

Number None, Sunday, 30 August 2026 17:14 (one week ago)

some cunt on the radio trying to justify that now as tho it's entirely reasonable

99 gram lychee (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 30 August 2026 17:32 (one week ago)

Haha, yeah that one stung I’ve got to say! Without that and the unfortunate slip leading to the equaliser who knows where the game may have gone.

Chewshabadoo, Sunday, 30 August 2026 20:04 (one week ago)

Mikey Moore to Koln on loan should be a good move for him, same with Souza to Porto, though it’s another fullback out - leaving them with just Porro, Udogie and Robertson.

Hoping rumours about a move for Ndiaye stalling and Pulisic being considered as an alternative are not true.

ShariVari, Monday, 31 August 2026 09:28 (one week ago)

there is no good news

its just different names fed to the monster at this point

Wichita Referee's Assistant (darraghmac), Monday, 31 August 2026 12:48 (one week ago)

Looks like they’re pivoting from Ndiaye to Mudryk now. Can’t break the spirit of a player whose spirit is already broken, I guess.

ShariVari, Monday, 31 August 2026 18:27 (one week ago)

The way commentators talk about set piece coaches, you’d think they were some sort of futuristic invention, similar to the way they talk about var. did no one ever teach Andy Townsend about set pieces on the training ground?

The Europa League victory was the zenith of the first Unai Emery era, but also the end.

The mountain had been climbed in Istanbul. The peak staring back at them in the form of a trophy. For a core group of players, there was no point further past.

“A whole generation made us proud,” one senior figure — who, like all others in this article, spoke on the condition of anonymity to protect their positions — told The Athletic last month after another key player was sold. “We are ready with excitement (that) a new generation is coming.”

"good evening. always we are in our way being very demanding and try to be competitive and getting our ojective", the mysterious and untraceable Deep Throat-like figure added

Looks like Balogun just got cold feet late on. Not sure there’s a lot of talent in free agency up front. Might have to ask Jamie Vardy nicely.

Mauro Icardi could be a good option, I guess.

ShariVari, Wednesday, 2 September 2026 10:36 (one week ago)
