It is well documented all over the internet that I worship the ground that Henrik Larsson walks on, undoubtedly the best player I've ever seen in my life on a regular basis. But, really, I don't think I've ever been as excited, ever got totally behind, ever genuinely spent so much time going "WOAH OMG" at a guy like this.
He's not even scored half a dozen goals for us. He can't last a full 90 minutes. But, y'know....

I fucking love this guy.

Revive!
Didn't have a great game today, mostly because he's having to drop too deep as we have a central midfield incapable of getting the ball forward. Still worth the money in for one of these every game.

<3 him.
Also love fake Paddy McCourt on twitter.
― ailsa, Saturday, 27 November 2010 20:37 (fourteen years ago)
k now it's just silly how often he does those. i can only assume there's some kind of misplaced modesty at work preventing him from doing it every time he gets on the ball.
― Antoine Bugleboy (Merdeyeux), Sunday, 28 November 2010 04:49 (fourteen years ago)
is this guy rubbish in between his sensational goals? it's hard to know why he hasn't had a bigger impact in his career with such good dribbling skills.
― Weasel Diesel, Sunday, 28 November 2010 17:39 (fourteen years ago)
He doesn't really get a game much, tbh. Various reasons, mostly suspected due to laziness/unfitness.
― ailsa, Sunday, 28 November 2010 18:09 (fourteen years ago)
He was mostly rubbish yesterday. Not a guy you want with the ball in his own half. Get him within 30 yards of the opposition goal and he makes magic happen.
― Lindsey Lohan is the new Extreme Noise Terror (onimo), Sunday, 28 November 2010 18:15 (fourteen years ago)
he basically doesn't have anything to his game other than what you see in those videos. oh actually i've seen him make some lovely passes as well, though he was a bit shit in that respect yesterday.
― rappa ternt sagna (jim in glasgow), Sunday, 28 November 2010 18:16 (fourteen years ago)
Yeah, he's very much not a team player. I still love him though. If you're going to be a one-trick pony, your one trick better be as good as his.
― ailsa, Sunday, 28 November 2010 18:19 (fourteen years ago)
He did set up the goal against St Mirren. Played way too deep yesterday though. Don't care, not listening to criticism though. <3 <3 <3
aye, a bit churlish of me to essentially say "all he has to his game is being a fucking genius".
― rappa ternt sagna (jim in glasgow), Sunday, 28 November 2010 18:20 (fourteen years ago)
I didn't read it like that. This is a thread of celebration! I am concentrating on the positive. Which is "just" general awesomeness.
I was away down the stairs on the concourse just before he scored. When I got back into the main bit of the stadium, I saw he had the ball and instantly thought "not going anywhere, standing still to watch this". Afterwards, I've never belted back up those stairs to the back of the stadium so fast and so not-knackeredly in my life!

that goal vs bray is awes
― nakhchivan, Thursday, 27 January 2011 13:57 (fourteen years ago)
He seems to be working on the "not a team player" thing, and also on his fitness. Lasting full games and doing defending and stuff. Against Hearts last night, he got the ball near the byline in his own half and dribbled round a ton of jambos before clearing. Anyone else you'd be "get rid of it, ffs!" but hey, he does that ball-stuck-to-toes-and-making-everyone-go-the-wrong-way thing in defence now too.
There was one moment when he had the ball at left-back and we thought for a second he was going to try and pass it through the Hearts keeper's legs to Mark Wilson over in the right-back position. Would have been awes if he'd actually done it.
― ailsa, Thursday, 27 January 2011 14:08 (fourteen years ago)
Celtic keeper's legs shirley?
― onimo, Thursday, 27 January 2011 14:09 (fourteen years ago)
Oops, aye. Multi-tasking and talking about football not specialities of women, I believe :-)
(boss lurking, was thinking about keeper's legs* and hearts players in the way and stuff)
* not actually thinking about Fraser Forster's legs, I'm not that sort of girlie girl

how does he only have four caps for northern ireland
― nakhchivan, Thursday, 27 January 2011 14:14 (fourteen years ago)
Probably one of the same reasons he wasn't getting picked for us
- not a team player- not fit for 90 minute matches at this level- doesn't defend- doesn't fit the system
1 and 4 are nonsense, 2 and 3 are things he has addressed successfully.
― onimo, Thursday, 27 January 2011 14:41 (fourteen years ago)
Apart from his goal last night I didn't think he was at the races.caught in possession a few times, couldn't beat a man. Been disappointed with him lately, tho he has improved his fitness and tracking back.
― À la recherche du temps Pardew (jim in glasgow), Thursday, 27 January 2011 14:48 (fourteen years ago)
caught in possession a few times
Yeah I've been getting frustrated with him doing this in his own half. You accept wingers often losing the ball in the final third against full backs but Paddy keeps trying to dribble it out of defence. Something a good boot up the arse should sort out.
― onimo, Thursday, 27 January 2011 14:50 (fourteen years ago)
THIS DOESN'T LOOK LIKE CELEBRATION OF GENIUS TO ME!
― ailsa, Thursday, 27 January 2011 15:01 (fourteen years ago)
Even a genius needs a wee kick in the arse sometimes.
This could be your cue for your first ILF Mod power trip - sanitise the thread of anything anti-Paddy then go on a rampage through the threads changing anything that annoys you. You could have me agreeing with you about the red card shout last night.

haha. no.
― ailsa, Thursday, 27 January 2011 17:27 (fourteen years ago)
I'd like to think that if he's declared for the Republic, he'd be a regular, but I reckon Trap would have cited 1 and 4 from onimo's list.

I feel sorry for Paddy that he wasn't born in the age of Best and Jinky when individuality and ball skills were rewarded instead of being seen as a problem.
(not for a second putting him in that company, of course - he's never had much of a chance to show how he'd manage against higher quality opponents)
