was supposed to be "left wing" but ended up goal-hanging like dirk kuyt, right wing dude on the touchline around where the penalty box line is, screamed at him, he looked up and whipped a beautiful cross over, it was so totally landing on my head and I was maybe 2 yards out, ball continues to drift in, no defenders around, goalkeeper stranded, the ball arrives and i closed my eye briefly to soak in the glory, and felt the ball braced the top of my head as opposed to my forehead and bounced harmlessly away, as opposed to into the goal :(

could have pulled us in front 35 mins in, we subsequently gave away 3 goals in 10 minutes at the start of half-time. feck.

the concept of a "one on one" is tiny in pro football and huge in football with friends. at a stag do 5-a-side alcohol-free interlude, with one of my best friends, we kicked off and were 30 seconds in and i rounded him (the man who was soon to be married) and he screamed "shoot" even tho it was the halfway line on a big pitch, and i'm bad shooter from distance but i shot and lashed it into the corner, like 1/1000.
