Looking at this list with the positions surrounding them removed everyone bar perhaps Ashley Cole looks too high in the top 31 to me!

If we were going on last season's form then I'd say Rooney at 12 would be alright. No way now though.

Malouda has been fantastic for most of 2010, recent Chelsea wobble notwithstanding. Was quite hard done by in the World Cup as well.

i'd say he was mentally (and physically) a bit weak but he's not in the cassano, gascoigne level and has generally performed at least credibly apart from when he was trying to leave city

I think there's at least a vague argument to be made for Gerrard on some "talisman" ish, plus he probably is one of the few players who if you did erase them from history the past five years of their club would look totally different.

Arshavin, on the other hand, is a luxury player in a team that really doesn't need one.

erase them from history = sell them to chelsea for £40m and buy some players who don't make transformers noises as they run randomly around the playground at 100mph

i like how every time gerrard misplaces a pass it's 'a rare mistake' when he's provided a+ assists for zidane, henry and drogba in the past

i dunno, i thought 71 for pato was about right - injury problems all year that also kept him out of the world cup, still not at his full ability in a way you know he will just move up like 15 places a season until he is top 5 by the time he goes to real.
