Dunno if I'm peculiarly sensitive of late but this creep's punditry is getting worse by the hour. Mercenary, smug, amoral, happily clueless about technical aspects of the game, Claridge's constant sniping at any team or player that doesn't fit into his cash rules everything around me outlook sounds like the embittered croaking of some washed-up pub twat. I wd love to watch an in-depth documentary about him being staked out for the fire ants in the middle of the Mojave desert. Is there a worse example of dead-eyed contempt for everything that isn't money in the media today? He makes Lawrenson sound like a raging paragon of Corinthian values.

Used to like it when Gabe Marcotti used to wind him up on 5Live. I think one occasion was when Claridge was banging on about what a huge club Newcastle was and is based iirc on their catchment area. Marcotti wasn't having any of it.

This thread was inspired by his FA Cup commentaries on the radio over the weekend, tbh. He had no good word to say about whichever team was the underdog in any particular game, nothing but snidey contempt and the assurance that the big guys would get their deserved win. I've always disliked him but right now he's managing to make himself an even more hateful media presence than Robbie Savage, who seems to be upping his twunt quotient to compete.
