how come there is no thread for him yet

a player so unreconstructed and aggressive that lorik cana looked like a cultured playmaker next to him

tipper gore (nakhchivan), Tuesday, 28 June 2011 11:40 (thirteen years ago)

all the top teams know they want him but they don't have the sense to admit it, hence liverpool spending 20m on henderson rather than admit to their true affections for the teeside terror

Throughout his youth Cattermole was a keen poet and was known to send his work into the local newspaper where it would often be published.[citation needed]

'If you put every foul I’ve ever made up on the television, I think there’d be one tackle which was actually a bad one,' said Cattermole.

'That was against Scott Parker when I was playing for Wigan and I’ve spoken to him since to apologise about it.

'That’s the only bad tackle I’ve made in my career - all the rest have been genuine attempts to win the ball, not nasty attempts to hurt someone.'

nakhchivan, Wednesday, 12 October 2011 22:30 (thirteen years ago)

Ilx would defend him on intent being important iirc

shite pele (darraghmac), Wednesday, 12 October 2011 23:29 (thirteen years ago)

so does that mean that the scott parker tackle was a nasty attempt to hurt someone?

Cattermole said: “To be honest, it’s the second time it’s happened with the lad Steven Reid from West Brom. He’s six foot four and he rolls around like a girl, simple as that. It’s twice it’s happened now and it’s a shame.

“People whinge about the foreigners, but he’s a British lad and he’s acting like that. The way things had gone, I think the referee was waiting for me to make a foul.”

Footballer Lee Cattermole has had his ban from pubs and clubs extended for another year.

The Sunderland midfielder was spotted by licensees trying to get into venues.

Cattermole, 22, was originally banned in December 2008 after he was arrested for disorder on a night out in Yarm, North Yorks.

Stockton Pubwatch members – licensees who act to keep out troublemakers – voted to extend the ban. Pubwatch chair Steve Paling said: “Members have voted unanimously. As licensees we are not prepared to take it any longer.”

The ban would have run out in December this year but will now be extended until December 2012.

Sunderland FC said Cattermole declined to comment on the decision.

“Nobody epitomises what I like about a footballer more than my captain,” said Bruce.

The England U21 international believes English players are more likely to stand their ground when on the receiving end of rough treatment, prepared to accept that football is a physical sport.

Cattermole feels it is this kind of honesty which saved Stoke City's Dean Whitehead from seeing red during Sunderland's 0-0 draw with the Potters on Monday.

The Stoke man kicked out at the Black Cats ace following a typically crunching tackle from the former Middlesbrough man.

Cattermole could have made the most of the incident, forcing the referee's hand, but insists that would have gone against his principles.

"Basically because I'm English and I'm honest, he hasn't been sent off,'' he said.

"Sometimes you wonder if you should do what some of the foreign lads do and make the most of it, but I won't change. I didn't go rolling around, making the most of it."
