hm, not sure that a true big man would ever have that drink. don't know who hoarau is but that's a real big man-sounding name he's got.

taxonomy of bigness aside, i'd guess that any of these guys could Do A Job for my team, so i'll go adebayor for the lols.

As a Villa fan, I'm going with Adebayor to team him with Agbonlahor. Like the ring of the two names together, though they'd probably be a totally shit combo.

EZ Snappin, Friday, 8 July 2011 23:09 (thirteen years ago)

Can't someone buy Rob Hulse from QPR? He's big.

That Dichio goal against Wolves was amazing. I thought he was a half-decent player, but he and Gallen were handed too much responsibility too early and couldn't deal with it.

Missed this thread. Used to love Dichio, reminded me of an old story from Roy of the Rovers or Tiger or something called "The Pop Star Footballer". 1 good game in 10, like, but what can you do?

Everyday is a Whining Choad (Noodle Vague), Monday, 11 July 2011 09:16 (thirteen years ago)

Bendtner and Zigic both tainted with the Bluenose stain and bollocks to an Adebayor, lolz or not. I like the cut of this Hoarau fella's jib tho.

Everyday is a Whining Choad (Noodle Vague), Monday, 11 July 2011 09:17 (thirteen years ago)

Zigic also tainted by having fuck all talent

Adebayor is the most talented albeit a nob head. Zlatan is too talented to be a true big man right?

(a hoy hoy), Monday, 11 July 2011 10:35 (thirteen years ago)

he's too uninterested to be a good one.

who shivs a git (darraghmac), Monday, 11 July 2011 10:38 (thirteen years ago)

Lol isn't that the main thing these big men have in common?

(a hoy hoy), Monday, 11 July 2011 10:39 (thirteen years ago)

i dunno tbh. Maybe?

Key part of being a big man is embracing the fact, and not yearning to be a big small man.

who shivs a git (darraghmac), Monday, 11 July 2011 10:41 (thirteen years ago)

so you're saying it's important to "think Big" if you will?

Everyday is a Whining Choad (Noodle Vague), Monday, 11 July 2011 10:43 (thirteen years ago)

yes.

What am i agreeing to here, exactly

who shivs a git (darraghmac), Monday, 11 July 2011 10:49 (thirteen years ago)

Is Mario Gomez not a big man, cos I'd have him. Oh we've got Andy Carroll apparently, never mind.

haven't you heard? big dan is back to claim his rightful place up front

r|t|c, Monday, 11 July 2011 12:14 (thirteen years ago)

I only included players who offer comic value and might actually come to 'your team' if 'your team' is not Madrid or Chelsea - hence no Gómez, no Zlatan. Hoarau I know the least about, and it's possible he might actually be good, but whenever I've seen him his finishing has been awful.

no dzeko lol

Juata Man (darraghmac), Tuesday, 30 August 2011 09:55 (thirteen years ago)

no comic value anymore

sonderangerbot, Tuesday, 30 August 2011 10:03 (thirteen years ago)

Don't lol at me, I thought Dzeko was going to come good and anyway City wouldn't let him go, hence his not being in this poll.

Looks to me like the only managers who signed a big man for their team (from this list anyway) are Sam Allardyce and 'arry Hedknapp. And that's why they're the only real candidates for the England job.

boxall, Tuesday, 30 August 2011 14:39 (thirteen years ago)

Shechter of FC Kaiserslautern is breaking new ground as a small big man. Small as in he is only 5'10", but plays as a 'hold the ball up' striker, runs, or more precisely lumbers, the channels. Brings people into play, and generally 'puts a shift in'. At no stage in the 3 games I've seen him play did he ever give me the impression he was going to score however. In fact he never really gave the impression he was going to shoot.
