Hang on is this based on their form over the last year or so or are Lucio and Zanetti entering a time machine?

pandemic, Monday, 8 August 2011 16:31 (thirteen years ago)

lucio gerrard or rooney

Zanetti is 37 btw. I guess Pleat hasn't seen anyone younger worthy of the role.

Gerrard by a million miles

R. Stornoway (Tom D.), Monday, 8 August 2011 16:37 (thirteen years ago)

Zanetti still belongs in this team, whatever decaade it's supposed to be playing in.

I just don't understand Gerrard being there. Even at his best and in the correct position, which was very good, he has none of the qualities you'd want against Barca. He isn't exactly the type to retain the ball, be patient, close down and work for the team. I guess he may be on his game and score a 20 yarder tho.

five of these did already beat barca, so i might keep them on there. but yes obviously this is gerrard.

Pleat is such a wanker

i'm sorry for whatever (Noodle Vague), Monday, 8 August 2011 17:38 (thirteen years ago)

incidentally, why not just list the Hércules CF team that beat them last season?

No room in this side for Emmanuel Eboue?

# 53 Szczesny
# 06 Koscielny
# 20 Djourou

# 08 Nasri yellow card
# 14 Walcott (Bendtner 77)

Thread of random football team formations you just invented

thiago silva is one of the most obvious choices, kompany is very good but completely the wrong type of player to defend against messi etc

nakhchivan, Saturday, 13 August 2011 23:06 (thirteen years ago)

also what the fuck pleat

Vincent Kompany and Lúcio as central defenders. They are probably not as strong as Nemanja Vidic or John Terry, but both are able to move forward with the ball and overload the midfield, which will be essential. Lúcio can drive into supporting positions knowing Gerrard or Zanetti are sound insurance.
