tempted to go with the wishful thinking vote here

I sort of think that the FA will look at the court case and bottle giving the England job to Harry and his mates in the press will then spend the next however long frantically trying to build him into some Venables-meets-Clough figure. Suspect he'll still be at Spurs in a year.

Wouldn't role out a big fight with Levy and a flounce out though.

shock move to arsenal

Gary Numan, or Gary Fletcher (ken c), Wednesday, 28 September 2011 10:55 (thirteen years ago)

Think he'll stick around if we finish 5th or 6th. If we finish 4th or higher he'll be off.

Think we'll finish 5th or 6th, though.

How do you work that out? If England don't bite where is he going to go that's bigger? United, Arsenal, Chelsea or City wouldn't touch him with a bargepole even if they needed a manager, same is probably true for Liverpool.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 28 September 2011 11:14 (thirteen years ago)

I don't think 'bigger' is necessarily that important to him - if he has a budget to play with and hands-off owners he'd be happy. Sunderland or Stoke the past few years would've been a good fit, though the north doesn't seem to be his thing.

Highly doubtful - why would he pass up managing in the Champions League for the sort of job he's had for years? Stoke aren't exactly spendthrift in any case.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 28 September 2011 11:36 (thirteen years ago)

I think if he finishes top-four again, he'll be the next manager of England.

Mohombi Khush Hua (ShariVari), Wednesday, 28 September 2011 11:38 (thirteen years ago)

If that happens and he leaves with a CL campaign still to come I'd be happy, not least because that would leave us a reasonably attractive proposition for I dunno Ancelotti or someone. Otherwise we'd be looking at Mark Hughes or someone.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 28 September 2011 11:41 (thirteen years ago)

I'd agree with that. I think Spurs can probably pay enough to attract a better class of manager than Mark Hughes but i can't see anyone like Ancelotti opting for a team that isn't in the CL.

spurs fan england manager he's doing a good job but can't handle working under a proper chairman.
