zlatan apparently is getting bored with football :/

I'm going to vote Roo first, then I'm going to go and find the sending off and watch it.

i really like the idea of ibrahimovic (huge fucker who can play more than a bit), yet next to messi et al he looked a bit old hat

also he is a cunt

rooney used to be nearly as good as they said he was circa 2k5 so voted for him

ibrahimovic is a pile of shit, cowardly flash waster who never performs when it matters and is labelled "unorthodox" cos he can't play basic football. most overrated player i can think of.

ibra=crouch with fancier footwork.

When a German communicates, you listen (LocalGarda), Friday, 7 October 2011 23:13 (thirteen years ago)

just because ibra has never done much in europe or at international tournaments doesn't matter he hasn't performed when it matters. he has been a key player for a number of championship winning teams over the years. shit even his p shitty spell at barcelona he scored the winning goal in a clasico.

at-zing-two-boards (darraghmac), Friday, 7 October 2011 23:37 (thirteen years ago)

performance over their career.

zverotic discourse (jim in glasgow), Friday, 7 October 2011 23:39 (thirteen years ago)

rooney is one of the best players i've ever seen play in person. not quite xavi, ronaldinho, scholes, cr7, larsson, klinsmann or whatever, but up there.

zverotic discourse (jim in glasgow), Friday, 7 October 2011 23:40 (thirteen years ago)

rooney's got a headstart on drogba, so ok.

Torres only had a couple years as a world class striker before rafa ground him into mess he has been lately, and he had a long gestation at atletico, but still wouldn't have him below rooney tbh

Tevez is v similar too rooney, but more effective and more consistent. Definitely not having that.

at-zing-two-boards (darraghmac), Friday, 7 October 2011 23:44 (thirteen years ago)

peak, the other two are better imo, btw, and again imo i don't like tevez, just can't argue his record

at-zing-two-boards (darraghmac), Friday, 7 October 2011 23:46 (thirteen years ago)

rooney pretty much scored on average a goal every other game in the PL for man u. in what, 5 or 6 seasons? not exactly shy with the assists either.

They scored 55 league goals between them this season, Zlatan and Rooney. More than (for instance) Van Persie + Aguero.

But I gather some still don't consider them top players, and would like another venue in which to share their misgivings.

So here's this thread again.

boxall, Thursday, 24 May 2012 16:30 (twelve years ago)

ALAN SHEARER, the former England football captain, doesn't think much of my theory.
I'm loitering outside an interview room half a mile from the grounds of Old Trafford, home of Manchester United, waiting to interview the team's mercurial striker, Wayne Rooney, about his singular football genius. My suspicion: Behind his prominent brow and famously thick skull resides an underappreciated mind.

he's a liability defending the near post from corners judging from the Euros and this game mind you.

Sweet pass from pastore for the 2nd goal too.

4 goals in 3 games not bad.

pandemic, Tuesday, 4 September 2012 14:32 (twelve years ago)

i don't know if psg will really become the sum of their parts, but they at least have fitfully great players like pastore and motta and zlatan works best as the undisputed big man of a generally solid but uninspiring side

Einstürzende Joebarton (Nilmar Honorato da Silva), Tuesday, 4 September 2012 14:34 (twelve years ago)

judging by your kind words for qpr's prospects you have far too much faith in talent transcending chronic shambolicism

r|t|c, Tuesday, 4 September 2012 14:57 (twelve years ago)

don't think psg will be shambolic as such, just mediocre, with zlatan driving them to the title

qpr will probably hover around relegation with intermittent heavy home wins until about february

mcnulty will describe them as 'the schizophrenic west londoners' provoking complaints

then they will level out to middle table form near the end of the season and stay up reasonably comfortably

Zlatan was so great during that game. PSG was shit and then, within 4min, Zlatan scores with the kungfu kick and then the bombastic free kick. so good to have this guy in our team (but then OM scores a second time and Zlatan looks like he's thinking "OK, I've done my part, if these fuckers in my team can't play better, too bad for them...").
and he's pretty fun to watch at the stadium. even when he does nothing/walks (which is most of the time) !

Zlatan’s greatest quotes part 1: Interviews.

Upon signing for PSG, Zlatan was asked “Do you know much about Ligue 1 or the players here?” – “It’s true I don’t know that much about the players here in Ligue 1, but they definitely know who I am.”

Again, upon signing for PSG – “This is another step in my career, another dream that has come true. This has been a massive thing in the media, people chasing me in my home. This is not normal, I will chase them back.”

When asked if he had found a house in Paris yet – “We are looking for an apartment. If we don’t find anything, then I’ll probably just buy the hotel.”

When asked about Balotelli – “I like fireworks too, but I set them off in gardens or kebab stands. I never set fire to my own house.”

When asked which other sportsman he would compare himself to – “I’m like Muhammed Ali. When he said he would knock someone out in the fourth round, he did it.”

When asked what his ‘style’ of football was – “Zlatan-style.”

When asked why he had scratches on his face after a game – “Well…I don’t know… you’ll have to ask your wife about that.”

In response to a reporter who asked “is it possible for Ajax to drop nine points in nine games?” – “According to my calculations it’s possible to drop nine points in only three games.”

When asked what he got his wife for her birthday – “”Nothing, she already has Zlatan.”

When asked “Who is the best looking woman in the world?” – “I don’t know, but when I find her I will date her.”

In response to Arsene Wenger asking him to play a trial game before signing for Arsenal – “Zlatan doesn’t do auditions.”

A female reporter joked that Zlatan was gay due to a photo of him hugging Pique. He replied – “Come to my house and you’ll see if I’m gay. And bring your sister.”

Zlatan’s greatest quotes part 2: Quotes from his book “I am Zlatan”.

“You bought a Ferrari but drive me like a Fiat.”

“I barely yelled at my teammates any more. Something had happened, nothing serious, not yet, but still. I became quiet and that’s lethal, believe me. I have to be angry to play well. I have to scream and shout.”

“It was David Trezeguet’s fault. He made me do one drink of vodka after another. I slept in the bathtub. Now I hold my vodka much better.”

“Messi is awesome. He’s unbelievable, but we are totally different. He came to Barça as a 13-year old. He’s raised in that culture and has no problems with that ‘school’ shit. In the team, the play is based around him pretty naturally. He’s brilliant, but then I arrived and scored more goals than him.”

“Guardiola started his philosopher thing. I was barely listening. Why would I? It was advanced bullshit about blood, sweat and tears, that kind of stuff.”

“An injured Zlatan is a pretty serious thing for any team.”

“At Barca, players were banned from driving their sports cars to training. I thought this was ridiculous – it was no one’s business what car I drive – so in April, before a match with Almeria, I drove my Ferrari Enzo to work. It caused a scene.”

“Jose Mourinho is cool. The first time he met my wife he said “Helena, you have only one mission. Feed Zlatan, let him sleep, keep him happy!” The guy says what he wants. I like him.”
