Let's kick off with some predictions:

Man Utd to beat Newcastle 2-0 in the final, Hernandez with both goals. Then Ferguson retires, 'going out on top'.

Ismael Klata, Friday, 6 January 2012 18:34 (thirteen years ago) link

Surely he'll go out after winning the Europa League with Utd. The one he's been waiting for.

Nevin at 0-0

Pat Nevin at Anfield on BBC Radio 5 live: "If you change the team about (as Liverpool have done), it can have an impact. But they play with each other in training and it will come together for them. They just can't wait to go a goal behind before it happens."

ORLY?

2140: Oldham midfielder Tom Adeyemi takes a throw-in and then turns to confront a spectator in the front few rows at Anfield. He is seriously unhappy here with something that was said to him and looks close to tears. The game is stopped for a few minutes and Steven Gerrard has a word with Adeyemi. Play is back under way now but we may hear more about that one.

not with downing doing nothing as usual and bellamy being oddly quiet

still the 433 of suarez maxi bellamy away at chelsea was the best ive seen liverpool this year

if this gives carroll another year to be mostly useless then thats gonna hurt liverpool

That's the seventh time Ashley Cole has won the FA Cup. Does anyone else come close? Maybe an Old Etonian or two might've managed a few, but otherwise wins have always been spread around widely 'til the last few years.

And Chris - what's the backstory to Liverpool fans booing the national anthem? I didn't see that bit, but the papers suggest it was extensive.

underleg aeroboots i have smithed (darraghmac), Saturday, 5 May 2012 23:05 (twelve years ago) link

Five is the next best I think:

The record for most FA Cup wins by a player used to be five, jointly held by Charles Wollaston (Wanderers), Arthur Kinnaird (Wanderers & Old Etonians) and Jimmy Forrest (Blackburn Rovers). Arsenal & Chelsea's Ashley Cole won his sixth winners medal and thus set a new record in 2010.

Was eating my hands for the first 60 mins of that.

Yesterday's incident complicates the goal-line issue, would the tech solve the question?

xyzzzz__, Sunday, 6 May 2012 10:37 (twelve years ago) link

It would have a better chance if they set it up in line with the goalline

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 6 May 2012 10:42 (twelve years ago) link

The technology they're introducing should solve these problems. I think it's a choice between goal-line cameras and a sensor that activates a buzzer or something when the ball goes over.

Just like you, except hot (ShariVari), Sunday, 6 May 2012 10:54 (twelve years ago) link
