Many will have felt that this much-maligned ganglester will have scored a remarkable goal yesterday, though there will be those who will feel that his effort will have been an ineviatble result of the placement of professional footballers on a field inorder to have attempted such feats.

They're kind of all true. It was a great goal and is a GOTS contender on its own merits. It was a hopeful cunting that wouldn't come off 95% of the time (or more). The fact it was Peter Crouch makes it all the more amazing*. The only thing missing was the robot celebration.

*though I've heard that he has a surprisingly good touch for a big man

He teed himself up so gets the assist as well. Two very good touches of the ball against one fortuitous overhead shinning of it.

crouch has always had a weird little sideline in volleys and overhead kicks and other awkwardish feats of technique, people are coming out with this "hopeful cunting" faux shock as if dirk kuyt had done it

the uncannily smooth competence of it is what's striking moreso than crouch doing something cray basically
