Le fish mais pas les chips: is it just me, or is this the most boring season there's been for aeons 2012/13?

There've been decent individual games for sure, but as a broader narrative almost nothing's grabbing me. Everybody's at about the right level of competence, nobody's blazing a trail, nobody's failing in a spectacular way. I could see the season just rolling on like this, everywhere.

I dunno, what am I missing? Liverpool are interesting, so are Spurs; Arsenal were for a bit. City in the CL was fun but so much for that. Spain's over, Serie A likely won't come to much, Bayern look like they're having a functional year, it turns out PSG are going to be pretty good. I'm sure the Europa League will do us proud, but it only gets warmed up when the CL ejectees get their pastings. But in the meantime?

the champions league is i think in general an excellent competition these days, and contrary to the cavilling the group stages are full of good matches too

spain is not over though, this is a jose mourinho team with cristiano ronaldo competing against a defence that ships 4 goals to a crappy depor side

the epl is not as good as last year (save for chelsea) but it's still more interesting than it was three or four years ago

i don't think there is anything really exciting happening but wait til march and see how it goes, apart from juventus and psg i don't think any of the leagues are scripted

chelsea and arsenal both v interesting

Spurs and liverpool fascinating cases atm too imo, embryonic dynasty attempts always invite interest

Definite changing of epl managerial guard continues apace at many otherwise uninteresting clubs, the type of seachange events we have discussed in dedicated managerial threads

Off the pitch it's great, tbh. Pity that most of the football i've seen has been, well, shite tbh. Technocrats suck.

Chelsea yeah, still gelling and could prove to be pretty thrilling.

Wenger will no doubt flirt with the sack before perfunctorily pulling fourth out of the bag again.

bottom end of the Prem cd well see 7 or 8 competitors for relegation.

Championship is gonna be the usual bran tub.

lately I feel like I'm becoming bored with the ubiquitous 4-2-3-1 formation generally, dunno if that's related to the feelings expressed itt.

have wigan completely dropped the all-conquering italiano 3-4-3 they were using at the end of last season?
