in terms of wider impact probably. for ireland specifically i think mcgrath and given deserve inclusion with those greats. whelan surely one of the few top technical players we've produced too, if not at keane level.

i think this too. don't even like him but he is like some totem of competitiveness and that was based on performances while he still played, rather than just bluster/hardman act.
