If we're talking about timing, the gap which prompts this phrase is probably something like three-quarters of a second, which tbh I have learned to live with.

If we're talking about guessing, isn't that how most people make marginal decisions. Some days at work I feel like all I do is take a punt that 50-50 calls are actually 51-49 ones. The idea of a world of certainty appalls me.
