Right, I've been working on this for a little while, and the impending demise of ESPN Classic makes it appropriate to make it public.

What we have here is 1,809 matches, divided up by season and World Cup finals (from 1966 to 1994): http://bit.ly/X6ZEHH

1974 World Cup has been a treat. Great game between Italy and Haiti featuring untold missed sitters from the great Luigi Riva. Scotland playing surprisingly (to me) well in a nil nil vs Brazil.

Also marvelously patronizing commentary eg Yugoslavia bend a lovely free kick into the top corner of Zaire's net
" That's the sort of thing Zaire know nothing about!"

Tho tbf 5 mins after that Zaire tried to play offside by lining up on the edge of their box when Yugoslavia were taking a free kick from about 3 yards from the Zaire's own byline!!

It ended in a goal.

There was a piece in a Blizzard or similar last year which argued that that Zaire side were pretty good, but mentally shot-to-pieces by the time of the Yugoslavia game (their last game iirc) by political meddling, in the finest African tradition

ITV's Laurie Cunningham documentary is pretty good (ITV Player, not YouTube, so probably not viewable outside UK)
