Post-season sub-poll: Which current QPR player is most likely to join Hull this summer?

Hull City are going to be in the Premier League next season. Steve Bruce will (at the time of writing) be their manager. Down at Loftus Road, the smell of an exciting new football project challenge begins wafting through the windows... but who will be tempted?

(NB Players listed are the ones listed in the squad on the official QPR site, minus the ones I can remember definitely being loan signings, namely Andros Townsend and Not Rafael)

I want to say Bobby Z is not lost to the Premiership, but iirc he's never been further north than White Hart Lane. We might see him at Palace.

I reckon Bruce will go for an Englishman, proven EPL ability, and a pedigree in big games. Jamie Mackie, get packing.

Ismael Klata, Friday, 24 May 2013 22:17 (eleven years ago)

Wait, Jay Bothroyd isn't already at Hull?

it's ok we dunno who brian murphy is either

mackie, onuoha maybe but i could see the fancy man in bruce being more tempted by the mercurial talents of hoilett, mbia, traore

dreams of big chris will go unfunded

the easier question is which could u not envisage playing for hull

Pretty shameful how I've read a hundred articles mourning the breakup of this Dortmund side, yet not a one on QPR's.

Voted Jenas. The axes of potential cost set against ability to do a job for a relegation embattled team seem to be more or less aligned. Tho I confess to knowing relatively little about Hull’s current side and the areas that might or might not need strengthening. He always pops up somewhere though. Palace?

Windsor Davies, Thursday, 30 May 2013 10:33 (eleven years ago)

first thought about City is defenders. second thought is more defenders.

This question is muddied quite considerably by Hughes's appointment at Stoke which will probably siphon off yr Hoiletts and Ben Haims, and I'm pretty sure Hughes is biologically incapable of not signing SWP.

For Hull it's Rob Green vs Onouha vs Bothroyd. A few of these strike me as Palace players in the making.

Matt DC, Thursday, 30 May 2013 10:43 (eleven years ago)

Agreed re: Hoilett in particular, for some reason that transfer feels like it would be totally plausible.

Windsor Davies, Thursday, 30 May 2013 10:47 (eleven years ago)

A few of these will probably end up at West Ham as well. Are any of them likely to sign for an actually good team? Cesar presumably, Taarabt maybe, I didn't see enough of Esteban Granero to know whether he'd do well at Swansea or Fulham or wherever.

Matt DC, Thursday, 30 May 2013 10:54 (eleven years ago)

strange notions itt tbh

hughes will have blamed everyone at qpr for not being up to his billy big club mentality so i v much doubt he'll be coming back for anyone besides maybe hoilett and obv samba (who stoke dont really need anyway but can they possibly resist?)

hoilett should have midtable takers, could probably go to germany if he lowered his wag demands, think swansea might well fancy taking a punt if it's cheap

granero's effective london holiday home retirement will come to a close with a return to spain, probably betis

adel def off somewhere, to the middle east with asamoah gyan supposedly if no russians bite

boswanker to turkey, park to mls

fully expect green onuoha hill swp jenas zamora johnson will be the basis of arry's good britlads side next season

r|t|c, Thursday, 30 May 2013 13:48 (eleven years ago)

See, I'd quite fancy that spine to 'ave a right good go

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 30 May 2013 13:52 (eleven years ago)

local papers already suggesting crouch hoilett swap on the cards

r|t|c, Thursday, 30 May 2013 14:00 (eleven years ago)

arry's transfers write themselves tbh

we'll have adam smith on loan from spurs, wayne bridge, richard dunne... offer for scott parker that he graciously declines... who else is knocking around idk

r|t|c, Thursday, 30 May 2013 14:03 (eleven years ago)

Parker's got to be leaving Spurs, right? He's so not who they need as first-choice, and ethically he's not the type to stay sat on his arse on big wages.

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 30 May 2013 14:10 (eleven years ago)

We'd probably sell him if someone put in a decent offer but I don't think AVB would be opposed to keeping him around as a squad player. There are enough Premiership teams who'd go for him to prevent him dropping down to the Championship anyway.

Are they playing a three in midfield?

difficult to say. it lines up 4-4-2 but it's weirdly lopsided

basically, elmohamedy the RB spends his entire game charging up the wing, but rosenior the LB is much more reserved (maybe in the last game because he was marking ben arfa, but elmohamedy is much more attacking anyway I think). huddlestone sits deep but makes a surprising number of forward bursts compared to his spurs days - in the last 10 minutes of the match defending a 1-goal lead he was even (wrongly) caught offside from open play and then (rightly) booked for attempting to chip in from 40 yards after the whistle had gone, bless him. livermore is his drone-worker accomplice, more or less everywhere. they started with quinn and brady on the wings, but things heated up when george boyd - basically an unashamed wing-forward - came on for the more prosaic quinn and essentially warped the whole thing into a 4-3-3, with brady/meyler sitting closer to thudd/jay-liv and aluko, forever dropping off the front line to cause mayhem, providing a willing partner in swag

steve bruce, already in my affections for screwing over palace and publishing some novels, appears to have developed quite a subtle and effective method, and one that allows for the natural expression of the players

this may sound weird after 3 goals were scored but the only thing they really lack is a good CF. jury out on sagbo obv

C/3 Jenks kakling Neu! military£ absinthe snkkt! pckls Özil JTCF njhtdgs (imago), Sunday, 22 September 2013 07:49 (eleven years ago)

obviously this method is dependent on the fitness of thudd & aluko. remove those two and the whole thing crumbles into mediocrity
