Yeah good luck with that... Medised used to be good for teething but sadly no longer licensed for under-6s. I have half an old bottle stashed in the medicine cabinet for such an emergency.

What have you tried? Nurofen + Calpol given together is about as powerful a tool as you have.

tried calpol, not nurofen though.. isn't nurofen a pill?

You can get Nurofen syrup for children. It's safe to give at the same time as Calpol.

16 months, wow! my mom tells me i didn't start teething til 11 months ... kind of hoping our baby (now 8 months) holds out that long. She's been sleeping so well. Wouldn't want some teeth to get in the way of that.

"Dentición" is "teething" in Spanish.

Archie seems to be cutting one, normally goes to bed just fine but had half an hour of banshee screaming tonight. Have dosed up with Nurofen and hoping for the best! It'll be his sixth so still plenty more to go...

Henry just hit the 6 month mark and has 2 cut with 3 more I can clearly see trying to come through. He's usually a 9-10pm straight through to 6:30-7am sleeper but has woken around 5 am the last 2 mornings. I kind of hope they all come out real quick so we can get it over and done with.

Btw: what is the UK policy on when kids should start seeing a dentist? Here I've read 2 years but my dentist said 3 y/o and pp's dentist said 4 y/o and that it elective until they get their adult teeth ( like 7-8 y/o?)

My dentist takes them on from age 3 but I think it varies according to the practice.

Has Alice been? I'm concerned about the freak out factor leading to a lifetime of avoiding the dentist

I have taken Alice along with me (which most dentists recommend doing - for check-ups not major procedures obv) but hasn't been on her own account. If they see you being checked out and nothing bad happens they will probably be ok later, I figure.

Mind you, she has had far worse mouth trauma than a dentist visit with all her cleft palate surgery and treatment, so she'll probably be the one telling me not to make a fuss in the end.

yeah i was thinking Alice would be a pro before she even got in the chair! tonight we noticed FOUR of Henry's top teeth about to pop through so that's five altogether giving him grief. poor kiddo.

Some people I work with swear by them, but I haven't tried them yet (our nine month old already has 5 teeth).

I think we tried some homeopathic granules but ended up going for the actual medicated analgesic stuff, Dentinox was good.
