yeah that was my question! I just bought a Black Moth Super Rainbow 12" with the same deal.

knowing scott I think he means no MP3s either tho.

Record store day in the UK has a new single by The Fall ("Bury", killer new LP track) with unavailable B-side. Also Wooden Shjips 7".

give a shout-out to people willing to put their money where their mouth is and offer no digital option.

kinda pretty keen on accompanying freebie digital option right here?, don't see why there's any cred in holding back on that. limited vinyl is the bain of my life anyhow; it pushes me closer to buying ... digital options frequently.

rant over!, howling hex rogue moon is a contender, assuming it was this year?, the smog live record too.

okay fine free download with vinyl is fine. i don't use them but i'm sure its handy for you kids to listen to stuff on your ibuds and ipads and the like.

loved when i bought that shellac vinyl box years ago and they just kinda threw a cd into the box with no cover or sleeve or anything. like, ugh, here...

Great thread. The same could be said for cassettes too. There are some killer cassette only releases as well. But this isn't the thread for that. Anyway, I really like that Guinea Worms. It's a huge listen, but very good.

^^ been seein those vibracathedral 12"s everywhere -- any good? i have a vague idea that i might like that band, but i think ive only heard a little, and cant remember anything about what it sounds like

'the secret base' is 1st one of recents to catch my ear.
but for an intro try 'hex hostess', 'versatile arab chord chart', or 'my gate's open'

i really like the vibracathedral orchestra, but i can't say i have a favorite. the vinyl only live on WFMU lp on eclipse was my introducitonh to the band and remains a favorite.

ah okay, it took me a while to pick it up. stable kills me.

had a change of heart & can appreciate the worth of people dictating audiences to pick up vinyl. just the limited runs that are bugging me.

the limited thing only bugs me when its something you know people will want. like, they could have pressed a thousand and only put out 300. seems kinda mean.

in a lot of cases though people are lucky if they can sell 300 of something. if after the fact it becomes sought after well that's another story.

scott seward, Saturday, 3 April 2010 22:39 (fourteen years ago) link

sure.

if after the fact it becomes sought after well that's another story.

yeah, i just don't get why represses aren't some automatic thing?, in response to some kind of gauge for demand. i pretty often sleep on getting things that i really like, justifying getting something that might be rarer first, so this comes back to bite me frequently.

represses aren't some automatic thing a lot of the time because the money made (if any) on a small pressing of records likely went to beer, gasoline or food, especially in the cases of self-released records.
or that's one scenario anyway

A head's up for a great recording which will be released on vinyl for the first time in 2010:

Orange Twin Field Works expanded LP (co-release w/ Mississippi Records -- first time on vinyl)
Field recordings of Bulgarian folk songs, totally awesome.
