When you want to sell some records, for whatever reason, how do you determine what to sell?

-Stuff I haven't listened to in a long time/since the week I bought it
-"lesser" records by certain artists (i.e. i've only kept the first blue cheer record, cuz like when do i put on the others? they're fine, but they don't get used at my house and take up space and could be traded for other, cooler records by bands or artists i don't own records by already. and the mp3s are always there when i need them.)
-records I bought cheap just cuz they were cheap and were always intended for flipping or trading.

if i just need cash bad i'm more likely to just pick a few high end items i rarely listen to. if i need to make space for other records to settle into the shelves, i'm sometimes liable to grab fistfuls of common records, figuring they'll always be around should i ever need to own them. albums sold in this way include the royal scam, the yes album, ac/dc bullshiz, vg zep records etc

everything i ever bought new in the 90's can go. well, almost everything. i don't have much left!

aiee i know, not by much.
actually that partic example brings up the "i'll sell this copy cuz i need to upgrade anyway and will get a nicer one later" philosophy--the gatefold was torn, wasn't really a keeper copy imo.

also to anyone getting rid of their nineties records: i need a copy of clyma est mort to complete my dead c collection.

i think i have it! i think. it's one of the few 90's records i have left. i have some bunnybrains records, some strapping fieldhands records, some trans am records (??? i know, right?) and some siltbreeze records. almost everything else i either sold on ebay or traded at the record store. wait, i do own one sea & cake album. and i might have one atari teenage riot album left.

i have it, ian. the siltbreeze/xpressway pressing. unless you are some kinda freak that needs the original nz first pressing. great shape too. what is it, like a 30 dollar record? i'd trade you something for it. got any sike records you wanna part with? i'll take one 30 dollar record or two 15 dollar records or 3 10 dollar records. or 6 five dollar records. hahahahaha.

i'd definitely trade, but i dunno what you want! lemme look at my records later and email you.

hi pretzel walrus!!! busted!!!! I thought you were dead

when I had to sell a bunch of records, even the ones I sold for almost nothing basedon space considerations, it was realtively easy - I looked at the cover, thought about it, said "can I even think of something unique and fun from this?" and if I could, but it wasn't on the immediate "oh don't even think of selling that" list, I might listen to it, and then (most often) go "this has not aged very well since college, has it" -> SOLD

El Tomboto, Tuesday, 21 July 2009 07:38 (fifteen years ago) link

srsly like all my old USAF broz frum the day were over here in my house drinking and being forced to listen to my taste and they was all like "when the fuck did you get all into reggae" and I said oh mainly because emusic made it all of a sudden economical to buy a lot of scientist and then you know how everybody always does they said "yeah, man, scratch perry!" and then I had to do the thing that makes me who I am as a person and I said YEAH WELL

HE'S ACTUALLY KINDA PEDESTRIAN

I PREFER THE KING TUBBY KINDA SPACE AGE THING

and this is how you know these fools are friends for life - no beef - they just decided to talk about something else.
