hmm... G+ denotes something much worse than what you describe in my experience--a spine crack and some stains is solid VG territory imo.

ok ended up $21.71 to greece. it's 2LP, and ill pack it well -- what should i charge this guy on the invoice?

we have a lil post office at work and everything to europe (norway & belgium) has been $12.48. i usually charge 14 to cover the box, etc.

might wanna charge a bit more to cover the 2xlp?

i charge a flat 15 to anywhere outside the states. nobody gripes. i pack nicely.

so on my page i said $4 per record for shipping and $1 extra if you buy more than one. i sold a double LP. do i charge $5?

I've dropped stuff off for people who live near me. It seems wasteful to send it through the mail in that instance. Plus it's really interesting to see who is buying off you. One guy I'm Facebook friends with now.

pulled out 150-200 records to sell last night, and it feels so good. my idea was to hit RED DEVIL in san rafael, then amoeba with the remains. any SFers have any different advice on places to sell? i saved a couple for ebay (mayyors 12" 1st press and a couple hoZac singles), but im mostly tryna just get SOME money and put some shit in stores...

i've gotten rid of most of my records (stuff that's worth less than 10$ to me) at grooves and then amoeba. i probably got rid of 300 records and got like 200 in credit. so don't expect much. lot of it really was dollar crap though. i have another box or 2 of crap to get rid of, so i'll be your road dog if you want.

i ended up having that guy pick up the record from me. it was vvv awkward to say the least. o well, at least it was quick

how was it awkward? i've had local sales on ebay too, to date i've avoided IRL cash/LP exchanges though.

i guess it wasn't that weird. he was just very nonplussed about the whole thing. he was sorta red neck gangstery and when i tried to shake his hand (why i did it, i have no idea?) he didn't really want to.

and then i was gonna tell him a 'awesome' story about where i found the record and sorta decided to keep it to myself

yeah i kinda feel like handing the record over in person will just lead to one of three things:

a) person wanting to hang out and talk about records for an hour
b) person checking the record very carefully for flaws and trying to talk the price down
c) person being generally awkward and weird

this is DEFINITELY where you need to pretend to have just gotten a phone call and be like sorry for the rush!! everyone will appreciate that.

about 10 years ago did face to face LP sale to save on shipping and met one of my bestest SF bros ever. we ended up working together, got me into biking, hooked me up on my old apartment (lol @ italian mafia), hookups with his rad sister in NYC (soooo hot, altho perpetually dated awesome chefs so it was a wash), awesome color played his bday party...

seriously one of the coolest guys ever.

but then again it was a really cool record (NM Great Lost KINKS LP) so i think it's like whatever comes with the territory.

Sounds like great fun. It was a rare appearance there for me as well- haven't visited Scratcher (the bar I was at) in maybe a whole year at least. Speaking of such music, I generally like browsing the country/blues section at Good records across the street from that exact spot. I would love to listen to my records as part of a social experience (somehow) myself!

some of these dudes are just incredibly knowledgeable. this one guy seems to know who is playing each instrument on every blues/jug band record ever made. and when it was recorded, and what tuning they players are in. really impressive stuff tbh. it's cool to listen to like, biind wilie mctell and robert johnson records.

So impressive to talk to people like that. Experts are just fun to meet.
