Note: Not shilling for bids, right?

OK.

I was perusing a bunch of LPs out of my collection via Popsike, and find this one is worth loads.

So, OK, I stick it on e-bay.

And it's sat there doing not much, all week.

It's got one hour to go.

45 page views, 12 people "watching"...

Back in the day, if you put something valuable on, you could get high bids on it within a day or two.

Now, thanks to Auctionsniper, everyone gets cagey.

How much do you think it'll go for?

Well, Popsike has the original French issue at $540, and a similar one to mine at $340.

But those were back in 2008 or so.

If it reaches £100, I'll be pleased (I've had it for a very long time, a jumble sale purchase I think), but £6.50? hmmm....

OK, 17 mins to go and things are moving a bit: £10.62

Not a lot happening, you might wanna get the thread title changed?

Too late for that!

(Can't change it after bids have gone in)

As I say, there's a lot of "watchers", which is normal in something well-known, as people like to find out what something they own might go for.

Mark G, Friday, 26 February 2010 12:28 (fifteen years ago)

2 mins to go, no change in price.

seven seconds, £17.54...

Ends, £37

Ah well.

Bollocks to 'em, stingy bastards.

We should have called Suzie and Bobby (NickB), Friday, 26 February 2010 12:36 (fifteen years ago)

Well, why...

1) It's the recession
2) it's been reissued on CD
3) Didn't stress it as "original" enough
4) wrong time of year? Dunno.

I think the tide may be turning from auctions to 'buy it now' type listings: I had another album that had made big moneys according to Popsike, so I put it on with an initial price of £40 and got a bid quite quickly. It's still there (finishing today)...

5) Finished in the middle of the day on a weekday

caek, Friday, 26 February 2010 12:42 (fifteen years ago)

early evenings and weekends, always

caek, Friday, 26 February 2010 12:43 (fifteen years ago)

6) Just plain ran out of people who want it NOW.
