A strain of cannabis originated from the Umass Amherst area, rumored to be an offshoot of the breader ChemDawg from the days of www.overgrow.com Was quite popular amoung weed conisuers in Boston and New York in 2000. Was originally a whispy light weight strain. Soma later introduced a strain called NYCSD "New York City Sour Diesel". Claims some rasta gave it to him in NYC, how ever this strain did not originate from NYC and was most likely was other strains bred for similarity with the original, most likely shares parentage with the currently popular grapefruit strain. Because of avalabilty Soma's obviously different strain at the peak of NYCSD popularity the original from the streets of New York became known as ECSD "East Coast Sour Diesel" You can still find the original at the Grey Area coffe shop in Amsterdam. RezDawg of Resivoir seeds uses the original Sour diesel in his sour diesel strains. How ever they have been bred for more weight while keeping the potency. RezDawg's sourdiesel strains are generaly cosidered the standard now.

is it okay to talk about music for psychedelic drugs? because Robert Ashley's "Private Parts" is the best thing in the world to listen to on mushrooms and LSD.

ian, Sunday, 21 March 2010 06:04 (fourteen years ago) link

i think rob ashley would skare me on acid. he skares me regular. mmmm, mushrooms. been so many years. decades! too long, old friend.

scott seward, Sunday, 21 March 2010 14:51 (fourteen years ago) link

this guy came into my store the other day. he is very cool and fun to talk to. wanna smoke with him:

there is nothing scary about private parts. just a dude laying it all out real style.

when i was a budding teenager pot smoker, one of my first albums to get stoned & listen to was this one:

ian, Sunday, 21 March 2010 16:08 (fourteen years ago) link

when i was 16 bauhaus was one of my go to acid listening bands! and tones on tail. burning from the inside sounds amazing on acid.

scott seward, Sunday, 21 March 2010 16:15 (fourteen years ago) link

i'd like to go on the record; i'm sativa all the way. couchlock dumbmaking indica makes me feel like sad pudding. though there are probably exceptions.

the charlatans always sounded soooo stoned

Stormy Davis, Sunday, 28 March 2010 07:12 (fourteen years ago) link

you know, one thing I will say -- apropos of Ian's post of that Bardo Pond LP upthread: there are only a handful of tracks that, despite how sober I may be, they actually make me *feel* like I am stoned. And right at the top of that list has always been "Tapir Song" from 'Amanita'. I don't know what it is. When that record came out, I used to play that song and it made me feel like I'd smoked some pot, even if i hadn't. still does the trick, too!

plus like $50?

69, Saturday, 22 May 2010 05:58 (fourteen years ago) link

no wai, whenever i used to see that record it was like 10 bucks, at most. have prices really changed that much?? now, the DG stuff, sure, but that Chrysalis record?? 50 bucks would be pure insanity..

Stormy Davis, Saturday, 22 May 2010 06:57 (fourteen years ago) link

ya i got it for a buck at a garage sale. great record tho! extra trippy because my copy used to have a little piece of something stuck on the record that made it loop like a locked groove about halfway through 'ceylon'. kinda wish i never scraped it off in retrospect

ok this isn't REALLY canonically "psychedelic" but GODDAMN have I always had a sweet-spot for the Blind Faith album, and I just went to the Eric Clapton 'Crossroads' deal on Saturday, and Eric and Steve Winwood busted this out and I basically had an orgasm

So high last night, listening to Radio City. The drums on Daisy Glaze and the laser beam guitar sound cut through me.
Then I saw some real foxy girls in drums/bass/violin trio called Brute Heart. And Jerusalem and the Starbaskets played a new song.
