i wanna know what herb thinks of that sax appeal album i sold him. dusty grooves description:
"A totally groovy album of sax-based 60s instrumentals! The record features the alto work fo Herb Larson, but the real treat is the off-beat arrangements by Bill Ramal, which are filled with weird production and very groovy instrumentation -- like electric sitar, electric bass, bongos, and other "now sound" 60s touches! Includes a great odd one called "Malaysian Melody", a swinging cover of "Meondocino", and the cuts "Traces", "Galveston", "You Showed Me", and "Hang 'Em High". Very nice -- and plenty saxy!"

xpost - don't have that one and I love the Living.. series, was listening to the Living Brass do 'Sunshine Superman' last night. nothing says country music or Johnny Cash like a peppy marimba band PLUS VOICES.
'Sax Appeal' is as great as you pitched it and dusty describes. his tone is kinda Ex-Lax sax but the setting is top-shelf swankadelic. see, i get off on timbre and there are certain sounds that are automatic in my book - sitar, moog, bongos, fuzztone, exotic percussion, jazz flute, vapor-pop, bossa nova, french chicks. if a record hits a trifecta, SCORE.
