hmmm let's see ... I have been to 7 of those. Reckless, Shangri-La, Other Music, Academy, Sound Fix, Ear X-tacy, Vintage Vinyl
Vintage Vinyl is the best know record store in St. Louis but I find more stuff to buy at Euclid or even Record Exchange (challops?)

srsly, the fetus is so great. treehouse (honorable mention) is fucking bullshit however, mostly hate that place.

why hate? i thought it was just fine, typical indie shop. fetus is the bomb.
permanent records is a good shop that gets extra points for the employees and owners being so nice. just a really pleasant place to shop, even if the selection is good-not-great. or maybe i'm spoiled.
harvest records is just A+++ all around.

also in louisville ear x-tacy is kind of lame. typical indie selection, broad but not deep, very poor used vinyl selection. six or so blocks away is underground sounds, which fucking rules. amazing CD and vinyl selection. AMAZING. and really reasonably priced. and the owner rules. i dropped like $300 there a few months ago.

in summary
underground sounds >>>>>>>>>>>> ear x-tacy
also what about weirdo records in MA?

Yeah I've been kinda disappointed by Treehouse tbh but I've been there like twice briefly so. For the smaller mpls stores I've been to I think I prefer Extreme Noise but that's more specialized.
