two double volumes priced about $24 apiece... you could probably buy most of the LPs this stuff is taken from for that price!

I actually really love the New Orleans Funk comps they put out mainly because you can't find that stuff on 45 or LP for the most part.

well yeah, those NO Funk comps are great! so are the studio one roots, soul etc comps. but this is just so bizarre it feels like a dream.

i need to order the red NO funk comp and keep forgetting to do it.

It doesn't feel like too much of a surprise to me- that's probably because I've often leafed through the relevant section(s) of their shop. Also please note that (huge acts like the Allmans and Skynrd aside) lots of this stuff isn't particularly common/ well-known in the UK. And the records will be cheaper. But yeah, those probably don't represent good value for the US buyer.

Haha now I've looked at the actual track listing (as opposed to Reynolds's snark) there's not much by the way of obscurities on there, is there? Anyway, you'd certainly be paying hundreds of pounds for the privilege of owning the relevant vinyl LPs.

But really this is probably about Soul Jazz compiling a record of stuff they love because lots of the people who are interested in Soul Jazz Records wouldn't normally touch this stuff with a bargepole.

Tim, next time you come to the U.S. I will give you all the skynrd & allmans you will ever need.

Somehow thought this was going to be an ironic thread about the Bossa Nova comp.
