A long-time fixture, and even now a fairly crucial barometer.

I wrote them an article back in the day, I was longtime ill off work and had loads of clippings, so wrote a "Jesus & Mary Chain" one which only recently got superceded.

Thesedays they are a lot more pragmatic about the qualities of the records they mention: A low point for me was the Hollies article from wayyy back where the author bemoaned about how the record company really never got behind the "Wiggle that Wotsit" disco single.

Anyways, if you see this months, check the article in the back regading a cassette of JCope demos: I was that seller. I should write them a letter....

Do wish they'd get a better writer to do the psychedelic reviews. At least the sections. Seems like the people doing individual reviews are OK but I can't read Mills.

Trying to think how they've fared with main section articles recently. Have enjoyed things like Psych Folk round ups over the years plus whatever that major psych series was back in b+w years.

Oh yeah looked through current issue in shop yesterday. There's an article on The Misunderstood with a couple of photos I don't think I've seen before. Not sure who the writer is.

Haven't read this for years. Used to read it religiously in my teens, alongside NME and MM. Their 7" reviews were pretty comprehensive, from what I remember.
