Recommend a turntable that plays 78s

For my brother. He's in the market for a new turntable and just took home a bunch of my grandfather's old 78s from the 30s and 40s, mostly big band jazz and swing. I actually don't know that much about turntables past the Technics 1200 but he's not really looking for a DJ setup so ... is there a reasonably priced home stereo turntable with 33-45-78?

Is the numark something you have at work or is that your home turntable? Just curious.

So you switch needles in and out depending on whether you're playing 78s or LPs/45s? Obv I don't know much about 78s, that's why I let my brother take them. I didn't really have the desire to get a third turntable to be able to play them.

i have a portable numark that is dedicated to 78s; i just plug it into the aux on the receiver when i want to listen to old records. my regular turntable is just 33/45

otherwise yeah, you would have to switch needles out. 78s need a slightly wider needle because the grooves are wider etc

i think maybe the easiest cheapest thing to do is buy one of those cheapo crosley retro things for a hundred bucks. one with a 78 speed. and just use it for 78s.

Regas are cool looking. That whole high-end audiophile world is so foreign to me.

oh but yeah the numark thing would work to. and would sound better. so yeah that would be best probably.

i love my rega and i have the cheapest one. they are built for simpletons like me who like good sound. had it for 6 years or so and never had a problem. reminds me i need to order a needle...

the crosleys look good but he probably wants something to hook to a receiver and not w/ self contained speakers

is this the Numark? I'll probably recommend he gets this for 78s and something better for his regular stereo.
