I have never seen the Hackamore Brick album. I have only seen the first SRC album on Capitol one time.

My theory is no distribution on the record in So. Cal., but it could just be a San Diego thing. (Although a friend of mine from L.A. didn't have it either.)

I've seen Hackamore Brick maybe a half-dozen times in the last ten years. Not exactly common, even in NY.
I've never seen an original Charley Patton 78. I've been in the same room with a lot of pre-war blues 78s though.

took me forever to find the first Cowboy record, sort of inexplicably. Still haven't seen another copy.

I had a sealed copy of the Von Lmo LP once. I don't think I bought it here; I think I was trading stuff with the guy who did Void Records. That guy's catalogs were something else.

timellison, Friday, 11 January 2013 01:04 (eleven years ago) link

"did" - maybe still does Void Records

timellison, Friday, 11 January 2013 01:04 (eleven years ago) link

von lmo record i bought at the philly record exchange in the early 90's the only copy i've ever seen.

Stigliano had the Hackamore Brick album - that was how I heard it. Friend of mine was penpals with him.

i like when its some record by a really popular/ubiquitous band that i finally see for the first time. i had never seen a copy of the mr. natural album by the bee gees until last year! how could i miss that record for 44 years?

scott seward, Friday, 11 January 2013 01:14 (eleven years ago) link

never seen any original Sema records, probably tons of other stuff on my want list too like P16D4 cassettes, early Guts Pie Earshot, The Underneath's LP and EP, early Unrest or Half Japanese singles, Camberwell Now's "Meridians" EP.

have seen Nurse With Wound's hand-painted "Drunk With The Old Man Of The Mountains" LP, a friend had it. I saw the 2nd Etant Donnes record once too, but it was like 80 bucks.

seriously though i own hundreds (or maybe even thousands) of records that i've never seen another copy of. i don't really get out much. i mean i don't actually go to tons and tons of used record stores. don't think i've ever seen another copy of the guy fletcher record i'm playing right now. or i don't remember seeing it anywhere else anyway.

should we have a thread to document the first time a poster sees a record?

early Unrest or Half Japanese singles

I had Calling All Girls - it had a little half-pocket sleeve for the record.

There are ones that stick out in my mind. Like, Scott, I remember you said you had a Regal Zonophone copy of My People Were Fair. I remember seeing one once when I was maybe fifteen. Only time I've ever seen one.

timellison, Friday, 11 January 2013 02:23 (eleven years ago) link

i found that at a flea market in philly in the mid-90's. the place was surrounded by record creeps. i don't know how everyone missed it. 3 bucks. guy had a cool venom 12 inch too. nice guy. he had cool cheap stuff. older black philly guy who definitely wasn't a t-rex fan.

despite the fact that i have seen approximately 400,000,000 caravelles 45s in my life i had never seen a full-length lp until yesterday. very exciting for me. bought it out of the back of some guy's van for five bucks. not a mono copy, but i'll live. think i played it ten times in a row yesterday.

I have seen it but I don't own it ... probably need to fix that. For some reason I thought most of it was on Close Up the Honky Tonks but it looks like it's not ...

I have never seen Wanna Buy a Bridge?

started looking for it because they raved about it in the Spin record guide that came out in the '90s.

I saw my "bridge" yesterday, funnily enough.

One of those 'on the pile' to make into a nice CD for the car...

I have never seen Wanna Buy A Bridge? either but I have seen most of the records comped on it (I own half of them).

Just noise and screaming and no musical value at all. (Colonel Poo), Thursday, 31 January 2013 10:00 (eleven years ago) link
