Keep in mind that somebody could have painted it using the original PS as a reference, but yeah it looks legit.

oof, man.... that's maybe my fave stones record, but i'd have a tough time dropping that kinda dough on what is otherwise a fairly common record. (not the mono, i know, but... i'm fine with my stereo copy.)

well, that was a trip. wacky old auto repair joint filled to the brim with assorted bullshit. some of which was actually auto repair related. stuff everywhere. i guess he was buddy's with fantasy's art director and inherited his estate. the painting is definitely legit and he had a bunch of random film shit. i also saw some oooold lord of the rings related material... might have to go back. bought the painting, some random latin LPs (?), and '50s margarine and bread advertisements.

also, beggars mono looks like an ok deal. always hard to figure out pricing on classics because the range is sooooo wide. i'm sure you could get your investment back at some point, though, if you needed to.

how many $5 boxes do u want shipped from Oregon to NYC? :)

You can email me too.

the world's most impertinent web designer (sleeve), Thursday, 28 March 2013 03:51 (eleven years ago) link

tbh it all depends on what kind of music it is and from what years!
shipping 78s is a tricky proposition and gets pretty heavy because they're expensive.
but if there are country 78s, especially pre-war stuff, that is of the most interest to me. if you see a box of henry townsend and furry lewis records or something crazy like that, you know to buy it already. i also know folks who collect hawaiian, polish, irish etc.

i mean... gets pretty expensive cuz they're heavy. not the other way around.

The few times I bought 78s on Ebay, they were received cracked or hairlined :( Bad luck.

Just watched Penny Serenade (1941) and loved watching Cary Grant leave the music shoppe with 27 78s wrapped in brown paper and tied with string under his arm. Then was reminded that my victrola is in storage six long hours away.

I got the time off of work! Right after payday too. I think this is pretty under-publicized (I learned about it through my radio station's newsletter) so I have high hopes.
