I finally learned to use our school scanner, which allowed me to scan some of the few photos of myself that I have, taken throughout the years. So here's a trip down memory lane...

This is me in 1997, with my then-best friend Jenny:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v655/lixnixn/jenny.jpg

This is another picture from the same session, with more friends:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v655/lixnixn/posse.jpg

Another pic with a friend, this one's probably from 1999 or 2000, can't remember...

This is summer 2003. For some reason my left arm looks enormously long there.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v655/lixnixn/puisto.jpg

And finally, this is me a year ago, on the International Women's Day:

Hmm, I guess I still need to learn how to use the photo editor, some of these are pretty badly cropped.

It worked, and what a lovely kid you were!

Tuomas (Tuomas), Thursday, 31 March 2005 21:28 (twenty years ago)

Me, 1987 (I think?), age about 17. I am very fond of this pic, it was a good time in my life - I finally worked out a sense of who I was, and I was into photography and indie music and I think I wanted to be Kristin Hersh.

I tried to grow my hair out long because my father kept cutting it in a Caesarian fashion and it made me look like Bill from Freaks and Geeks. Unfortunately, growing my hair out was just as much of a tragedy, although my female peers liked it...but then again, high schoolers usually have piss-poor taste (which is needless to say, I know). Anyway, from when I was 15, in between Regina and Melody from Mira (and they're tall...I was probably six feet at the time)...

Its sort of a running gag how often I've changed my hair and such.

Deee you are such a cutie!

Coming from a beauty such as yourself, that's high praise.

Ok, reaction time now that I've had enough time to peruse the entire thread:
1. I'm relieved not every one of you came across as looking Too Cool for School, because there's never been a point in my life when I've looked anywhere near "cool". So thanks a ton to those of you who posted adorable (or adorably awkward) photos of yourself!
2. It's kinda distressing how much my very first IRL crush resembled a perfect a 50%/50% mixture of young Ned and jel. Bus Pass Jel especially.
3. Michaels White and Jones were STONE COLD HOTTT OMG.
4. IDK if tera's still around these parts, but I love that with her I found someone whose childhood I could instantly find a kinship. My Catholic grade school uniforms looked a LOT like the ones shown in the group photo and Val Verde and Bexar counties aren't that far apart from each other; also, I too grew up surrounded by a significant majority of my fellow Chicanx people!
5. VG, your childhood photos were so precious, and the photo with you and your fiancée is seriously Relationship Goals.
6. I wish I could've seen a lot of the photos that now show up as broken image links. Ah well.
7. Onimo, that haircut in the most recent photo you've posted suited you perfectly.

The Colour of Spring (deethelurker), Thursday, 4 April 2019 20:50 (six years ago)

One more photo of me, this time at my National Honor Society induction ceremony toward the end of my sophomore year of high school, i.e. in the first year of eligibility (according to our school charter's rules). I was delirious with happiness at the time and it shows in the photo, because this had been my main goal since the very first day of high school. My parents, on the other hand.... (It's also crazy to note that out of the three people in the photo, I'm the only one who's still alive.)

Pete Maravich was my favourite player; you can take it from there. I wish I could say "bad hair day"--I can't. The school finally dropped the Rebels moniker two or three years ago (not that any of us gave it a second thought in 1978).

My father passed away last week at the age of 67. He had been sick for years; we knew this was coming, but I'm still not sure I have completely processed it. Probably won't for a long time. He was a university track and field coach of considerable renown within the world of Canadian university athletics; an athlete he coached competed in the 2016 Olympics in Rio (she came in fourth in her race) and he got a shout-out by the announcer on NBC during the introduction of the athletes, something I still cannot quite believe happened. 2020, man.

This is us probably around 1980 or '81. Friends and former athletes of his that I hadn't seen in years (or in some cases may never have met) could not stop remarking, at his funeral, how much I look like him, and that was with a mask covering half of my face. They also could not stop telling me that he was the kindest, most encouraging, and generous-spirited person they had ever known, something that I can confirm on my end as well. I will miss him every day of my life.
