90% new material live set, hence not really appropriate for old sk00l reunion (yet - check in again next year, ha). What's the 10% that's not new material? Do I have to tell you?

moley, Sunday, 15 November 2009 12:09 (fifteen years ago) link

zing touch me I'm (sic), Sunday, 15 November 2009 12:21 (fifteen years ago) link

yesssssss

BARRY ROUBAIX (haitch), Sunday, 15 November 2009 12:28 (fifteen years ago) link

srsly why add 20-odd acts AFTER you've already sold out the entire festival, added a second day, then sold THAT out too?!??! none of the punters will care if these acts don't play - you will have fewer clashes and enhance everyone's experience! (then you can use the money saved to fly all mongrels to seattlefap for private cat and rodent show)

lol that beenie man has been dropped from lineup and stalinized from historical record of announcement though. wonder if they still have to pay him not to play? presumably.

zing touch me I'm (sic), Sunday, 15 November 2009 12:38 (fifteen years ago) link

beenie man was on the bill?!

BARRY ROUBAIX (haitch), Sunday, 15 November 2009 13:05 (fifteen years ago) link

beenie man any jamaican artist who's not shaggy or a marley was on the bill?!

BARRY ROUBAIX (haitch), Sunday, 15 November 2009 13:07 (fifteen years ago) link

The BDO is 2 days long now? Fuck, what rock have I been under.

hulk would smash (Trayce), Sunday, 15 November 2009 20:52 (fifteen years ago) link

Beenie Man no longer playing? Awww.

moley, Sunday, 15 November 2009 21:40 (fifteen years ago) link

there will be men in beanies if that makes up for it

indie spare (electricsound), Sunday, 15 November 2009 21:45 (fifteen years ago) link

And I just read he was dropped because of a history of homophobic lyrics? That changes things a little for me. That and the good news there will be men in beanies.

moley, Sunday, 15 November 2009 21:48 (fifteen years ago) link

any jamaican artist who's not shaggy or a marley was on the bill?!

Lady Saw was on two years ago

The BDO is 2 days long now? Fuck, what rock have I been under.

they did it in 2004 as well

zing touch me I'm (sic), Sunday, 15 November 2009 22:27 (fifteen years ago) link

That's only in Sydney right? Because after all Sydney is our one truly big city.

moley, Sunday, 15 November 2009 23:08 (fifteen years ago) link

Yeah seems to only be syd.

Anyone know if Devendra is doing side shows? Not that I want to see him, but I have a friend who I know would.

hulk would smash (Trayce), Sunday, 15 November 2009 23:15 (fifteen years ago) link

yes, lesser cities to the south obviously can't support that level of culture

zing touch me I'm (sic), Sunday, 15 November 2009 23:17 (fifteen years ago) link

if by culture you mean germs in a petri dish

indie spare (electricsound), Sunday, 15 November 2009 23:18 (fifteen years ago) link

zing zang!

hulk would smash (Trayce), Sunday, 15 November 2009 23:19 (fifteen years ago) link

Come on, in 2010 they’ve managed to sign POWDERFINGER to HEADLINE. If that’s not ascending the top of the cultural pinnacle after 18 years, what is?

zing touch me I'm (sic), Sunday, 15 November 2009 23:38 (fifteen years ago) link

bdo providing the powderfingerbang

indie spare (electricsound), Sunday, 15 November 2009 23:40 (fifteen years ago) link

I think the BDO is one of Sydney's greater gifts to the larger population centres around Australia, the small cities if you will, especially as those large towns become increasingly sophisticated and cosmopolitan, discovering the world of international culture to which only Sydney has really been privy for so long.

moley, Sunday, 15 November 2009 23:44 (fifteen years ago) link

*sbigh*

estela, Sunday, 15 November 2009 23:55 (fifteen years ago) link

moley you cad. Have at you.

hulk would smash (Trayce), Sunday, 15 November 2009 23:56 (fifteen years ago) link

Sorry

moley, Monday, 16 November 2009 00:04 (fifteen years ago) link

So you should be, Melbourne will always be #1 dammit *shakes fist*

hulk would smash (Trayce), Monday, 16 November 2009 00:07 (fifteen years ago) link

well i appreciated you sharing your vision, it's hard to see the bigger picture when you're stuck in a provincial backwater.

estela, Monday, 16 November 2009 00:09 (fifteen years ago) link

Ha!

I take it none of you will be coming? I find large festival events disorienting myself. All that noise coming from every direction, all those people, the heat etc...

moley, Monday, 16 November 2009 00:11 (fifteen years ago) link

yeah nah, i'm way too old for festivals and the like

went out on friday evening and felt like going home after 20 minutes, couldn't handle all the youth

indie spare (electricsound), Monday, 16 November 2009 00:16 (fifteen years ago) link

Yeah same here - even if more than a few bands I loved were playing I'd be hard pressed to justify it, esp if they still have it in that shadeless dustbowl its been held at recently. I cant be out in the sun, I get sunstroke very easily.

Also, I am old.

hulk would smash (Trayce), Monday, 16 November 2009 00:19 (fifteen years ago) link

Sideshows, moley!

hulk would smash (Trayce), Monday, 16 November 2009 00:19 (fifteen years ago) link

Sorry moley, I couldn't pay $100+ for an event headlined by Powderfinger and look at myself in the mirror ever again.

The Velvet Underground & Nico Rosberg (King Boy Pato), Monday, 16 November 2009 00:21 (fifteen years ago) link

I am willing to help out if you need a dude to insult random indie kids who wander the wrong way, through.

The Velvet Underground & Nico Rosberg (King Boy Pato), Monday, 16 November 2009 00:22 (fifteen years ago) link

No sideshows, sadly.

moley, Monday, 16 November 2009 00:22 (fifteen years ago) link

It's very much an under 25's thing isn't it? The rest of us have lives, wives, hives etc.

moley, Monday, 16 November 2009 00:27 (fifteen years ago) link

Yes, Im starting to think so. Which is why havening a 25 year old bloke is a little problematic for me, ha.

hulk would smash (Trayce), Monday, 16 November 2009 00:27 (fifteen years ago) link

Young men are your weakness. You just like the sweetness.

moley, Monday, 16 November 2009 00:30 (fifteen years ago) link

I take it none of you will be coming?

see previous comments about unavailability of tickets before you even being added! could totally make a decent arvo of Mastodon, I&S, Dexter's 10-piece live thingy and mostly hanging out in the Silent Disco or Lilypad inbetween

but Muse, Powderfinger, Grinspoon and Eskimo Joe as four of the top six headliners on initial lineup would only inspire scum, teenagers, and teenage scum to have bought tickets already

zing touch me I'm (sic), Monday, 16 November 2009 00:37 (fifteen years ago) link

I'm under 25 and I'm already too old for it!!

Besides, I really can't stand people.

The Velvet Underground & Nico Rosberg (King Boy Pato), Monday, 16 November 2009 00:38 (fifteen years ago) link

Especially people who enjoy Muse.

The Velvet Underground & Nico Rosberg (King Boy Pato), Monday, 16 November 2009 00:38 (fifteen years ago) link

^is this why you are rarely on last.fm
