yes, lesser cities to the south obviously can't support that level of culture

zing touch me I'm (sic), Sunday, 15 November 2009 23:17 (fifteen years ago) link

if by culture you mean germs in a petri dish

indie spare (electricsound), Sunday, 15 November 2009 23:18 (fifteen years ago) link

zing zang!

hulk would smash (Trayce), Sunday, 15 November 2009 23:19 (fifteen years ago) link

Come on, in 2010 they’ve managed to sign POWDERFINGER to HEADLINE. If that’s not ascending the top of the cultural pinnacle after 18 years, what is?

zing touch me I'm (sic), Sunday, 15 November 2009 23:38 (fifteen years ago) link

bdo providing the powderfingerbang

indie spare (electricsound), Sunday, 15 November 2009 23:40 (fifteen years ago) link

I think the BDO is one of Sydney's greater gifts to the larger population centres around Australia, the small cities if you will, especially as those large towns become increasingly sophisticated and cosmopolitan, discovering the world of international culture to which only Sydney has really been privy for so long.

hulk would smash (Trayce), Sunday, 15 November 2009 23:56 (fifteen years ago) link

Sorry

moley, Monday, 16 November 2009 00:04 (fifteen years ago) link

So you should be, Melbourne will always be #1 dammit *shakes fist*

hulk would smash (Trayce), Monday, 16 November 2009 00:07 (fifteen years ago) link

well i appreciated you sharing your vision, it's hard to see the bigger picture when you're stuck in a provincial backwater.

estela, Monday, 16 November 2009 00:09 (fifteen years ago) link

Ha!

I take it none of you will be coming? I find large festival events disorienting myself. All that noise coming from every direction, all those people, the heat etc...

moley, Monday, 16 November 2009 00:11 (fifteen years ago) link

yeah nah, i'm way too old for festivals and the like

went out on friday evening and felt like going home after 20 minutes, couldn't handle all the youth

indie spare (electricsound), Monday, 16 November 2009 00:16 (fifteen years ago) link

Yeah same here - even if more than a few bands I loved were playing I'd be hard pressed to justify it, esp if they still have it in that shadeless dustbowl its been held at recently. I cant be out in the sun, I get sunstroke very easily.

Also, I am old.

hulk would smash (Trayce), Monday, 16 November 2009 00:19 (fifteen years ago) link

Sideshows, moley!

hulk would smash (Trayce), Monday, 16 November 2009 00:19 (fifteen years ago) link

Sorry moley, I couldn't pay $100+ for an event headlined by Powderfinger and look at myself in the mirror ever again.

I am willing to help out if you need a dude to insult random indie kids who wander the wrong way, through.

The Velvet Underground & Nico Rosberg (King Boy Pato), Monday, 16 November 2009 00:22 (fifteen years ago) link

No sideshows, sadly.

moley, Monday, 16 November 2009 00:22 (fifteen years ago) link

It's very much an under 25's thing isn't it? The rest of us have lives, wives, hives etc.

moley, Monday, 16 November 2009 00:27 (fifteen years ago) link

Yes, Im starting to think so. Which is why havening a 25 year old bloke is a little problematic for me, ha.

hulk would smash (Trayce), Monday, 16 November 2009 00:27 (fifteen years ago) link

Young men are your weakness. You just like the sweetness.

moley, Monday, 16 November 2009 00:30 (fifteen years ago) link

I take it none of you will be coming?

see previous comments about unavailability of tickets before you even being added! could totally make a decent arvo of Mastodon, I&S, Dexter's 10-piece live thingy and mostly hanging out in the Silent Disco or Lilypad inbetween

but Muse, Powderfinger, Grinspoon and Eskimo Joe as four of the top six headliners on initial lineup would only inspire scum, teenagers, and teenage scum to have bought tickets already

zing touch me I'm (sic), Monday, 16 November 2009 00:37 (fifteen years ago) link

I'm under 25 and I'm already too old for it!!

Besides, I really can't stand people.

The Velvet Underground & Nico Rosberg (King Boy Pato), Monday, 16 November 2009 00:38 (fifteen years ago) link

Especially people who enjoy Muse.

The Velvet Underground & Nico Rosberg (King Boy Pato), Monday, 16 November 2009 00:38 (fifteen years ago) link

hulk would smash (Trayce), Monday, 16 November 2009 01:02 (fifteen years ago) link

Well, ok Ratcat were a bit shit.

hulk would smash (Trayce), Monday, 16 November 2009 01:03 (fifteen years ago) link

I beg to differ!

moley, Monday, 16 November 2009 01:05 (fifteen years ago) link

I liked their very early stuff! Baby's got a gun and She's gone were cool songs. When they became chart darlings I rather went off them.

hulk would smash (Trayce), Monday, 16 November 2009 01:08 (fifteen years ago) link

Ha, bandwagon jumper! I knew Ratcat when they were Mousekitten.

The Velvet Underground & Nico Rosberg (King Boy Pato), Monday, 16 November 2009 01:09 (fifteen years ago) link

moley, Monday, 16 November 2009 02:00 (fifteen years ago) link

So last weekend my friend Ash (who is also in R's band, when R is in Perth anyway) was playing in his other band at a small pub in perth, and Eddie Vedder wanders in for a beer, and likes them, and stays for thhe whole set, and invites the band backstage the next night at the PJ gig. Many lols.

hulk would smash (Trayce), Tuesday, 17 November 2009 23:06 (fifteen years ago) link

the question is do they actually like pearl jam

indie spare (electricsound), Tuesday, 17 November 2009 23:21 (fifteen years ago) link

Hahah probably not, though I nave NFI really.

hulk would smash (Trayce), Tuesday, 17 November 2009 23:28 (fifteen years ago) link

But he also gave them props in front of the entire PJ crowd, you cant buy that kind of publicity. lucky barstools.

hulk would smash (Trayce), Tuesday, 17 November 2009 23:28 (fifteen years ago) link

vedder seems pretty laid-back; would bro down with. much as i liked nirvana way better, don't think you'd want to bro down with kurt, y'know?
