Opening Day is like blaming hstencil for everything. Simply grand.

lawrence kansas (lawrence kansas), Monday, 31 March 2003 20:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Ain't it, though.

felicity (felicity), Monday, 31 March 2003 20:09 (twenty-two years ago)

hstencil, Monday, 31 March 2003 20:11 (twenty-two years ago)

My $$$ team is a combined 2-19 so far today. ARGH!!!

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Monday, 31 March 2003 20:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Jimmy Haynes is the new hstencil. 6 runs in the 2nd!

Leee (Leee), Monday, 31 March 2003 20:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Fuuuuuuck. And now Marlon Byrd's 2-2 with 2 RBI and I didn't start him this week. He's tattooing my boy Beckett!

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Monday, 31 March 2003 20:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Somebody give Josh a blister! STAT!

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Monday, 31 March 2003 20:16 (twenty-two years ago)

So far Beckett has thrown 70 pitches in 1.2 innings. Ugh.

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Monday, 31 March 2003 20:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Somebody reel in the little fishy! Oooh, Clemens v. Halladay tonight, what a dream matchup.

felicity (felicity), Monday, 31 March 2003 20:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Clemens'll go five innings, giving up 2 runs. Halladay goes 7 innings, giving up 3 runs.

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Monday, 31 March 2003 20:31 (twenty-two years ago)

felicity (felicity), Monday, 31 March 2003 20:34 (twenty-two years ago)

maura (maura), Monday, 31 March 2003 20:58 (twenty-two years ago)

gygax! (gygax!), Monday, 31 March 2003 21:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Plus scored another run, not bad not bad. But that 13.50 ERA is hideous. OH GOD. Dejean with a 54 ERA! I'm on a roll!

Leee (Leee), Monday, 31 March 2003 22:21 (twenty-two years ago)

another stat to be considered for next time (ha!)...

LOB

i hate those slobs with lots of LOBs... i wonder what David R. thinks of this?

gygax! (gygax!), Monday, 31 March 2003 22:27 (twenty-two years ago)

NoMo asks "Randy Johnson who?"

gygax! (gygax!), Monday, 31 March 2003 22:39 (twenty-two years ago)

bnw (bnw), Monday, 31 March 2003 22:55 (twenty-two years ago)

also the bosox bullpen losing pedro's 3 hitter was criminal.

bnw (bnw), Monday, 31 March 2003 23:10 (twenty-two years ago)

This is what happened when you don't send Mike Timlin in to pitch.

Leee (Leee), Monday, 31 March 2003 23:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Whoa! Nomo CG SO!

felicity (felicity), Monday, 31 March 2003 23:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Sweet crap I need to set aside a few days to give this thread the attention it deserves.

Michael Kay is so insufferable it makes me wanna puke up my recently digested Pizza Hut Cinnasticks. I might drive up to Beantown to see the Aislers Set after all if this crapola keeps up. Also - Soriano is a piece of crap. Also - the Red Sox got what they deserved, and I can only hope they learn how to pitch to crappy hitters from this debacle. In addition - I am glad I don't live in Boston & listen to sports talk radio. In conclusion - crap crappy crap.

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 31 March 2003 23:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Post-script - Alan Embree has an infinite ERA. Fuck yeah.

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 00:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey he got a hold out of it.

Leee (Leee), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 00:30 (twenty-two years ago)

ooh DaveR has Matt Clement going tomorrow! Mmmmm . . . Ks

felicity (felicity), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 00:35 (twenty-two years ago)

That hold shouldn't count. I think you have to, you know, get somebody out to qualify for a hold. Pretty sure that will be changed by tomorrow.

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 00:40 (twenty-two years ago)

hehe, no need to be bitter, I see hstencil's bench had a pretty spectacular day as well.

felicity (felicity), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 00:43 (twenty-two years ago)

roy got rocked!

a city weeps (Mark P), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 00:54 (twenty-two years ago)

One batter too many, I'm afraid.

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 01:01 (twenty-two years ago)

TERRY SHUMPERT?

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 01:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Raposa: Go see the Aislers Set, but leave before they play. You MUST see Hella. Best band ever. Live it's amazing. Trey Anastacio was grooving to their NYC gig on Saturday!

Yeah Soriano!

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 01:37 (twenty-two years ago)

how come some waiver transactions require a wait while others go through ASAP?

mark p (Mark P), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 01:42 (twenty-two years ago)

i havta admit that i've been reading the fantasy baseball threads since they started and poor mark p, i wish roy had done slightly beter. but at least half the runs were unearned.

that's the sunny side in a j's fan's life.

dyson (dyson), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 01:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't know, but I have decided it would be handy to have a link to ILB here.

felicity (felicity), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 01:44 (twenty-two years ago)

You MUST see Hella.

ugh

Best band ever.

Ugh

Live it's amazing.

UGH

Trey Anastacio was grooving to their NYC gig on Saturday!

UGH!!!!!!!!!

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 02:03 (twenty-two years ago)

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 02:03 (twenty-two years ago)

hi.

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 02:03 (twenty-two years ago)

its a long season dyson! halla will have his day!

mark p (Mark P), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 02:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Cool dyson, the League needs fans. Personally, I am perving on the dental floss-thin team ERA of the Aaron W's A-Oks.

Who is the manager of the Lurkers? Pretty good team (shame about the caps).

felicity (felicity), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 02:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually, Yanc3y, the band I was most stoked to see was The Quails, tho I am curious about Hella (Gygax's well-intentioned advice notwithstanding) but I opted out of the 3+ hour commute & the financial spendage to watch the Red Sox lose & listen to the triumverate of Yankee announcers blow chunks. You Cablevision folks are so lucky, you are, to have the baseball stylings of Bobby Murcer invade your home 5 days a week. (PS - I've seen the Aislers Set live twice, & they're swell, so I don't know why there's all this animosity / apathy towards them, especially live.)

Would you believe that I'm not totally stoked on baseball season starting? I think I shot my load waaaaay too early. (And to think, I was gonna make a concerted effort to avoid any metaphors that involved the schlong.)

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 02:59 (twenty-two years ago)

ha ha, i just got that - halla wil have his day, ha haaaa

dyson (dyson), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 03:03 (twenty-two years ago)

What's to prevent someone who currently has a 0.00 ERA from finnagling his rotation and relievers so that none are active when they actually pitch, thereby ensuring said average to remain at nil?

Leee (Leee), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 03:05 (twenty-two years ago)

you could bench all your pitchers all season if you wanted, but the points you'd get in era would be mightily offset by what you'd lose in k's, wins, etc.

James Blount (James Blount), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 03:08 (twenty-two years ago)

That's the freedom of being in a deranged league.

felicity (felicity), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 03:09 (twenty-two years ago)

The best way to disuade those sort of shenanigans would be to note the categories you'd lose out on by doing so - Wins, Saves, Ks, and Holds - in addition to how it affects your pitching performance as a whole. Sure, ou'll get 3 18s (for ERA, WHIP, & Total Bases), but you'd also be saddled w/ 4 1s - that averages out to approximately 8.25 points for each pitching category, which is pretty darn mediocre.

Or what the Blount said.

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 03:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, yeah, Mark, about "waiver" stuff - if the guy you're picking up is a FA (Free Agent), then it's an immediate transaction. If he's on W (Waivers), he won't appear on your roster until 3 days after he was originally released. And, of course, whether you get him or not depends on your Waiver Priority (which you can find on the Team & Managers List page). High # = good. Low # = bad. He / she with lower Waiver Priority number gets waiver bait. If you pick up a waiver guy, you get high #. Free agent pickups don't affect waiver priority.

What this really means is that those that avoided the waiver wire bonanza this pre-season have a very good chance to pick up Mark Teixeira when Yahoo! figures out that he's actually on Texas' roster.

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 03:19 (twenty-two years ago)

If he's on W (Waivers), he won't appear on your roster until 3 days after he was originally released.

I set the option to 2 days actually... but David R. is right on.

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 03:35 (twenty-two years ago)

BTW, I will address all pertinent league / thread issues in the morning after I get my beauty rest & my back waxed. Carry on.
