why is this constantly being described as "Lynchian" -- is it because so many people here are David Lynch fans?

If you don't break up valis you might as well add radio free albemuth (or whatever it's called). Dick is full of shit; he just took speed and wrote. At the end of his life he really believed a pink ray from God had implanted information about his son into his brain, and his writing dwelled on certain themes, and maybe he took to writing the same book four times in a row, but VALIS itself is culled from the exegesis directly, right? and it's the best, densest, riffiest book of the three, and so I don't want to give my vote to the other two inadvertently. Started that sentence one place and there was not much logic in getting to the end of it. Phone writing shrug.
I'm glad thomp nominated galactic pot healer. That's a pet favorite of mine.

she told me she was watching punch drunk love.
in mrs. dalloway there's another thing where the female protagonist is friends with a much more interesting and beautiful female character that she looks up to, learns from, falls in love with.

(m)?
1. This is a bad idea.
2. Does Punch Drunk Love include a scene where Adam Sandler sings in Italian? You think I don't remember this http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/7034/06252010opera.jpg bit at the weekend desk? Maybe she thought she was watching Punch Drunk Love.
3. "I'm thinking" didn't seem to be what I was thinking.
4. This is a bad idea.

xpost That black brown and beige set on bluebird is good, but it's delicate and susceptible to disc rot. Jazz people generally don't like the way it's mastered, and they usually say they prefer the Blanton-Webster set, but the bb&b set has cool long pieces and lots of originals on the first two discs - seems like a very creative time.

xp I wasn't talking about a Fifties style relationship with rigid gender roles. Don't believe that there's still pressure out there for women to be the man tamers and men to be the eternal children who would be running around in nothing but a dirty beer-stained T-shirt if it wasn't for the firm guidance of women? We had a whole thread about this, for heaven's sake. And it isn't the men who are expecting us to be this way.
