― Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Wednesday, 31 August 2005 20:21 (twenty-one years ago)

the local vernacular here is bastardized because so many people aren't actually from Denver.

― keith m (keithmcl), Wednesday, 31 August 2005 23:53 (twenty-one years ago)

whats denver doing for labor day? BBQING??

― Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Thursday, 1 September 2005 17:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Answers to above.

1. Well, I did. And so did another coupla people I know.
2. Don't care.
3. Yeah, the best! For making fun of.
4. Grodey.

― Ally C (Ally C), Thursday, 1 September 2005 20:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Any relation to the other White Spot?

― donut gon' nut (donut), Thursday, 1 September 2005 20:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I presumed that Homosexual II was passed out in the Dude Dumpster, and that's what they GGS were all were looking at.

My favourite thing in D-Town is Roxy at the Denver Diner.

― Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Thursday, 1 September 2005 21:07 (twenty-one years ago)

jerry, roxy is at the breakfast king!! she still works there - i havent been there in a DOG'S AGE - i used to live two blocks away from there

― Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Thursday, 1 September 2005 21:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Memory fades.

What is the name of that other veggie diner? The one with the breakfast burrito? Next to the vintage clothes shop?

I miss Mexican food. Although not as much as I missed Indian food when I was in the US.

― Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Thursday, 1 September 2005 21:18 (twenty-one years ago)

the watercourse is the one you're thinking of

― Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Thursday, 1 September 2005 21:28 (twenty-one years ago)

next time I go to casa bonita I will somehow capture that delicious CASA BONITA smell, into a BOTTLE or something, so you can be reminded of its deliciousness.

― Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Thursday, 1 September 2005 21:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I think the feel of the cave walls is something much more marketable than the smell mandee, try and put THAT in a bottle!

― mergaypeters, Thursday, 1 September 2005 21:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I just want to keep the whole restaurant in my pocket (casa). Although maybe not the food, cause it'd get all mushy and gross.

I miss Roxy too!!! What a DOLL.

― gunther heartymeal (keckles), Thursday, 1 September 2005 22:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Casa's food is nasty to begin with.

― Rotgutt (Rotgutt), Friday, 2 September 2005 01:16 (twenty-one years ago)

All right, important question: Who makes the best burrito in Denver? I like the place on 7th and Santa Fe (I think it's 7th and Santa Fe, right?).

― Frank Kogan (Frank Kogan), Friday, 2 September 2005 02:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I haven't been to the place on 7th and Santa Fe! Should I search this place out?

― gunther heartymeal (keckles), Friday, 2 September 2005 03:01 (twenty-one years ago)

We had a Casa Bonita here once. They had a toy tightrope-cyclist that would go back and forth above us, a nifty little game room, flags that you could raise whenever you wanted more punch, and the best honey-filled soapillas [sp].

Assuming from the cave talk that Denver's C.B. is much the same.

― Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Friday, 2 September 2005 03:21 (twenty-one years ago)

TBH I havent had an astounding burrito in denver -- the best burrito i've had was probably in my old hometown of GREELEY, totally fatty lard-fried everything.. mmmmm

― Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Friday, 2 September 2005 04:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Burritos all seem the same...but GREEN CHILI!!
Santiago's by far is the best....they have like 7 locations around town, super good, really spicy and cheap!! I'm having a chicken and rice burrito with HOT GREEH CHILI today for lunch, I can't wait.

― mergaypeters, Friday, 2 September 2005 15:35 (twenty-one years ago)

7th and Santa Fe is El Noa Noa, right? Its pretty darn good.

Jack and Grill's green chili is excellent, as are their calabasitas, overall though its just OK. I think they were better before they expanded.

― Rotgutt (Rotgutt), Friday, 2 September 2005 21:24 (twenty-one years ago)

I will have to try these places! So many places I need to go. The yacht club being one of them.

― gunther heartymeal (keckles), Friday, 2 September 2005 23:26 (twenty-one years ago)

you know where i want to go tonight, in denver?

― Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Friday, 2 September 2005 23:35 (twenty-one years ago)

You're supposed to be in Lincoln this weekend and not Denver, bitches!

― not sure about pickles (Jacqui Pickles), Friday, 2 September 2005 23:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, there are two on the corner of Santa Fe and 7th; the one that I've been to looks like a diner, basically.

But nothing I've had is as good as the burritos at Pancho Villa's, in San Francisco (16th and Valencia).

I love the food at New Saigon on South Federal.

― Frank Kogan (Frank Kogan), Saturday, 3 September 2005 03:31 (twenty-one years ago)

For a short while, Da Lat on S. Federal ruled, but I think that their chef or ownership changed. OUr last trip was not so good. If it's even there, still.

When you say "yacht club," do you mean the Valverde Yacht Club? I used to see that joint all the time on the bike commute as it is right next to the bike path. Has anyone here been there?

― Hunter (Hunter), Saturday, 3 September 2005 20:39 (twenty-one years ago)

OMG SOPAPILLAS

i'm trying to remember all the mile high colorado songs we used to sing in elementary school, but can't because my head is occupied with tom waits.

i wish they hadn't changed the license plate from this:

http://www.roundamerica.com/images/June/2003-06-05/trip-2003-06-05-CO-Unknown-Colorado-license-plate-200.jpg

― Juulia (julesbdules), Saturday, 3 September 2005 21:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I could really use a SOPAPILLA right now! SEVERAL! I never sang mile high colorado songs in elementary school, just songs about strawberries and chesnuts.

― gunther heartymeal (keckles), Saturday, 3 September 2005 23:47 (twenty-one years ago)

i found a bit of the elementary school song i remembered thanks to google:

If I had a wagon I would go to Colorado

Go to Colorado (if i had a wagon i would)

If I had a wagon I would go to the state

Where a man can walk a mile high

"If I had a Chevy I would drive to Colorado

Drive to Colorado (if i had a chevy i would)

If I had a Chevy I would drive to the state

Where a man can walk a mile high."

um, it's a kinda boring song, but it stuck in my memory from whatever reason.

i probably haven't had a sopapilla since i moved away when i was 8...

― Juulia (julesbdules), Sunday, 4 September 2005 00:36 (twenty-one years ago)

well, I like the part about WAGONS. Like you can ONLY get to colorado by WAGON!! I really wish this was true!!!

― gunther heartymeal (keckles), Sunday, 4 September 2005 07:29 (twenty-one years ago)

there aren't many chevy's in denver, mostly subaru outbacks.

― keith m (keithmcl), Sunday, 4 September 2005 22:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Mine included.

― Rotgutt (Rotgutt), Sunday, 4 September 2005 22:36 (twenty-one years ago)

does yours have a thule ski rack?

― keith m (keithmcl), Sunday, 4 September 2005 23:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought Denver was a Yakima town.

I keep picturing Rotgutt's car but I can't remember how it's racked. Furthermore, he's probly got a new car by now.

― Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 18:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Huh. Elway's starting to develop a Peter Fonda thing there.

― jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 18:03 (twenty-one years ago)

P.S. My grandma used to say tennies. But now she is DEAD.

― jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 18:04 (twenty-one years ago)

WHY WASN'T THIS MOVIE MADE?

― Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 18:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha I thought for half a second those were MY SHADES and you were just taunting me! But, obviously, they are not. Cool shirt, Mand.

― Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 18:37 (twenty-one years ago)

There's a baby seat but no rack, I just put the bike in the back, which is cleaner (for the bike at least).

― Rotgutt (Rotgutt), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 22:44 (twenty-one years ago)

MY HAIR LOOKS BLONDE THERE. AND ALSO, IT LOOKS SO COOL WHEN PEOPLE GIVE A PEACE SIGN.

― gunther heartymeal (keckles), Tuesday, 6 September 2005 23:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Whose fingers are those? Mand or Kell?

― Chenille Reynolds, Wednesday, 7 September 2005 15:57 (twenty-one years ago)

sadly.....mine.

― Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 16:10 (twenty-one years ago)

mandee! you aren't allowed to complain about your hands anymore. they're adorable. also, go to your room. THIS IS YOUR MOTHER SPEAKING.

― The Milkmaid (of Human Kindness) (The Milkmaid), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 16:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I agree with your mom. In addition to adorable appendages, you also have DOPE eyes. No joke.

― Chenille Reynolds, Wednesday, 7 September 2005 16:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Speaking of appendages....you should see kelly's feet!! SO TINY! Last night they got lost in my giant, rocky mountain, man hands!

― mergaypeters, Wednesday, 7 September 2005 16:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I really miss Lakeside a lot now (but not Six Flags Elitch Gardens. worst. park. ever.). =/

Coors Field is also a pretty excellent ballpark, between the comfy seats, the great selection of food, and the fact that home runs are hit at a prodigious rate.

― Alan Conceicao (Alan Conceicao), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 16:40 (twenty-one years ago)

nik, quit telling me I have dope eyes - it makes kelly jealous

haha rocky mountain man hands

― Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Wednesday, 7 September 2005 16:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Lakeside is THE BEST - me, chenille reynolds, mergaypeters and gunther heartymeal all went there last weekend - we stood in line for AGES to go on 'flight to mars" which was probably the saddest amusement park ride i've ever been on
