The Nethercutt is cool for the full tour including the pipe organ demo (on the very top floor). It's a must stop if you're a car fanatic (took a couple photo there last time)

so I'm thinking if I take one studio tour, it'll be Paramount, cuz it's only $35 and I wanna walk through the gate and eat in the commissary. I'm not paying $70 to go in Universal's theme park solely to take a tram that goes past the Psycho house.

also, there's some old silent-era studio north of H'wood Blvd that has tours by appointment?

Universal does have the best studio tour, mostly because they have the exterior sets. Paramount isn't a terribly exciting lot, to be honest. Mostly just soundstages and (admittedly pretty) office buildings.

the lines for the universal tour can get very very long in peak season (which starts memorial day weekend; i.e., in reality it's already started). the theme park's not so great but the views from the top level are stunning.

universal city walk is a shithole and it costs a fortune to park there, too

Fuck parking there, there's a Red Line stop.

...which is what the good dr. will have to use, anyhow. (i would, however, suggest using the free shuttle)

Paramount is a much nicer lot than Fox, Sony, or Universal IMO. It still has a faint golden age of hollywood aura to it while the others feel really corporate and '80s. I've never been to WB though, and I don't know what any of the tours are like.

I like the Warner lot the best. But I've been there in a business capacity, not on the tour.

just now checking. my show ended friday but i am in their group show for the artwalk, which is up until friday or saturday of this week. art walk was fun, very packed.

dunno how many ppl here regularly use the metro but: have they been really stepping up security/ticket enforcement lately or is it just me?

i always expect to see them around the major stations. i have very very rarely stiffed metro; it's so much more worthwhile to scrounge up the $1.50 than to have to pay a $250 fine. if you're gonna get hassled by the fuzz, at least let it be for something *cool*.

yeah, i would vote for max karaoke instead (there's 2 locations, one downtown and one on the westside - haven't been to the DT one but presumably it is close by a subway)
