yeah despite what iatee says bartenders have to work super hard sometimes, its not like they always just sit around chatting and drinking with the customers. some friday/saturday nights we'd get absolutely slammed and it would be 4 hours of people yelling out drink orders and complaining that they're not getting served on time, with like 60 people at the bar despite there only being 30 seats, so there'd be no time at all for rest, tbf you would get tipped well on those days

i once tipped in origami elephants at a japanese restaurant, not a spur of the moment thing, i literally took an hour to learn how to do it

the server didn't appreciate it. she wasn't even japanese and didn't know what an elephant looked like

every time we get a tipping thread, things devolve into nonsense. can we get a moratorium on being mean, and go back to saying ridiculous made up shit? like, i once went to a restaurant where my sister was a server. i gave her a pack of menthol cigarettes as a tip. she was ripshit. later, at home, i gave her a twenty.
