Phear my 13.50 ERA! (Blast you Dejean, I'm giving you a second chance)

Just like the real Giants (which I'd be stocking up on if gygax didn't nab JT which I was going to do last night but didn't, grr), I'm winning because of big offense and good looks.

Leee (Leee), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 20:35 (twenty-two years ago)

ya snooze ya lose!

homer gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 20:40 (twenty-two years ago)

kelvim gives up 4 Runs (7 bases) to the Yanks in the top of the 9th.

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 21:16 (twenty-two years ago)

read as: quit complaining about your ERA woes, Leee.

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 21:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I hate the "it's early in the season" canard, but it really is early in the season.

hstencil, Tuesday, 1 April 2003 21:20 (twenty-two years ago)

earlyist

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 21:20 (twenty-two years ago)

That would be 36.00 degrees "kelvim."

felicity (felicity), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 21:22 (twenty-two years ago)

f,

he did get a K...

>:-D

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 21:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Why was Escobar even in? One of the old "give him some work" routines? Always a recipe for failure. I hate managers. And closers.

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 22:01 (twenty-two years ago)

they were only down 5 when they put him in...

maybe the thought was: hold them and try to make a run in the bottom of the 9th.

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 22:04 (twenty-two years ago)

They were shopping him to the Yankees, probably.

Anyone that badmouths the BoSox's bullpen-by-committee (and this incluses ESPNews' Steve Berthiaume, whose last name I can't bother to spell right because he cheesed my steak BIG TIME w/ some anti-Epstein sneering last night) (and this ESPECIALLY includes Red Sox fans, who should've learned over the past 90 years to itch that trigger finger some other way) (Poops, don't let me down, kid) is going to get a li'l Creighton in their Gubanich, if you know what I mean.

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 22:17 (twenty-two years ago)

i wish when the j's traded mondesi to the yanks that had just thrown in escobar. i can't wait untill that guy is gone

dyson (dyson), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 23:07 (twenty-two years ago)

REY ORDONEZ?!?!?!?

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 01:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Felicity, you gotta start Durazo! Juggle that lineup a tad, and you'd have had this tasty line: 2/3 1R 1HR 5RBI

Leee (Leee), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 02:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't start Durazo in my other league. I'm totally dropping trou over there (and here, for that matter).

PS - SIXTEEN INNINGS AGAINST THE DEVIL RAYS!?!?!? Baldelli's speedy ass is starting to wear out its welcome. And Aubrey Huff's about to win the game for the Rays.

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 03:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Yay Huff! M'boy!

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 03:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Woops, no he's not.

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 03:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, and kill Mike Timlin for me.

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 03:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I've got hits planned on all the bullpen-by-committee critics, and then on the assclowns in the bullpen. "Hi! I'm Rey Ordonez! I hit like a 5-year-old girl with broken arms and severe glaucoma! Please be to throw batting practice fastball at my bat so I can hit a home run ball and make Lou Pinella look like a "genius", please and thank you."

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 03:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Felicity, you gotta start Durazo! Juggle that lineup a tad, and you'd have had this tasty line: 2/3 1R 1HR 5RBI

My Bench: Where phat stats go to die.

Houston's offense looks monstrous. Shame about the pitching.

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 13:41 (twenty-two years ago)

because he cheesed my steak BIG TIME

If you're in Philadelphia, is this a bad thing?

hstencil, Wednesday, 2 April 2003 13:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Houston's offense looks monstrous.

or

The Peculiar "Charms" of Jeff Bagwell's Stance

hstencil, Wednesday, 2 April 2003 13:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh the closer by committee thing is looking so good. I LUV IT! Shouldn't we just start a baseball thread?

As far as Houston goes, everyone on that team had a hit last night, except Lance Berkman. I fear he will tank it this year.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 13:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh no, the Mueller Lights have released Bill Mueller!

Haha, now that Leee's gotten a taste of first place, he's turned into Brian Cashman.

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 13:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Due to the surging ML's I have fallen back to third place, tonights games will determine whether Billy Martins head is on the chopping block or not.

lawrence kansas (lawrence kansas), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 14:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Does anyone know where I can find starting lineups for games anywhere? I'm bummed that I left Jose Vizcaino in for last night's game since it appears he didn't play.

(Bagwell got two homers tho!)

hstencil, Wednesday, 2 April 2003 14:06 (twenty-two years ago)

As commissioner, I demand the Leee change the name of his team... this is a sad day.

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

"Hi! I'm Rey Ordonez! I hit like a 5-year-old girl with broken arms and severe glaucoma! Please be to throw batting practice fastball at my bat so I can hit a home run ball and make Lou Pinella look like a "genius", please and thank you."

Hahaha will I become as bitter a baseball fan as Dave R I wonder? No, I think Cubs fans are much more cheerful losers. It's because the seats in our park are properly angled towards home plate.

I was tempted to swap Alex ("Don't confuse me with A-Rod") Gonzalez with Rey Ordonez at SS but then I remembered that they are equally mediocre and at least A-Gon is kind of foyne.

The Devil Rays should play to their strenghth and have an all Ray/Rey lineup.

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 14:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Alex ("ouch, don't slap my butt") Gonzalez?

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 14:15 (twenty-two years ago)

h, I think you can get pitching probables but lots of times even the reality managers don't know their own lineups! Hello, Bob Brenley.

Yeah, Leee should be forced to changed his nickname to the Zimas as punishment.

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 14:16 (twenty-two years ago)

As for starting pitchers, there's a ^ next to the date when your pitcher is starting. A nice Yahoo feature! (Not always 100% accurate but of course due to last-minute scratches and whatnot.)

Aaron W (Aaron W), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 14:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Everyone is so nice and helpful. This is the nicest fanatsy league ever.

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 14:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I only wish we could all finish in first place like before the season! But, since that's not the case, I hope all your best hitters break their arms.

Aaron W (Aaron W), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 14:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Aw

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 14:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I say that in the _nicest_ possible way!

Aaron W (Aaron W), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 14:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I only wish we could all finish in first place like before the season!

My ego is taking up too much room up here in first -- I even had to let go of my namesake. But at the risk of jinxing my luck, I'll be changing the team name to, "Who needs pitching?"

PS - Schmidty I heart you! Calming down my ERA plus 7 Ks! U R BOOTIFUL.

Leee (Leee), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 17:05 (twenty-two years ago)

YOU need pitching.

Once my young guns start setting them up and knocking them down, you'll all be crying like little schoolgirls.

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 17:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm taking the Giant-Angel way to the top, Felicity.

And hstencil, I just check box scores to see who the starters are and hope that they'll be starters for the next game. Better 'n noffink. (Hey, one night on top and I'm already giving out expert advice!)

Leee (Leee), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 17:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I, for one, am grateful for the advice to start Durazo. I had completely forgotten about that pesky AL and the DH position!

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 17:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Dudes, ROCCO BALDELLI.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 17:33 (twenty-two years ago)

People, you can find out the starting line-ups for a game by clicking on the link to your players' games, next to their name. For most of the day this brings up a preview page, but about an hour before the game (around the time managers submit their lineups) it switches to the lineups. Once the game is underway, of course, it gives you an updated box score.

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 17:35 (twenty-two years ago)

(this is how I knew that dumbass Jerry Manuel was already tinkering with his lineup, one game into the season)

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 17:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh Diamond, how would you like to be a Red Sox fan. We haven't had a set lineup for years.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 17:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Who among you will weep for the Pockets
Who's lofty second place perch
has turned into third?

lawrence kansas (lawrence kansas), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 18:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't cry for me, lawrence kansas.
I was supposed to have been in Ninth Place.
That's all I wanted, not much to ask for.
I kept my Prior. Don't keep your Baez.
I kept my Prior.

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 18:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha now do 'Rich Aurillia'!

mark p (Mark P), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 18:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm so good my poem
Doesn't even have
To scan well.

Leee (Leee), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 18:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Colon getting roughed up by the Royals in a non-shocker!
