There’s a major street called Western that’s on the Eastside of Los Angeles, which you should never confuse with East Los Angeles, because East Los Angeles is also a separate city, to the east of Downtown Los Angeles.

east los angeles is not a city... it's unincorporated l.a. county, except for boyle heights, which is a neighborhood in los angeles.

someone sent me this link when i moved here: the communities within the *city* of los angeles. i.e., not including other cities in the county, like santa monica, beverly hills, etc.

that's just the "community planning areas," so all the neighborhoods and blue-sign places would be lumped in with that.

That statue represents myself and things that I've had to defeat in my life. So it wasn't like I was just this wacky guy who wanted 20 penises on his lawn. That's not the way I roll.... Unfortunately, the neighbors and other people never took the time to wonder if there was a reason....

as for venice, i don't know it that well. the beach is good for pretending you're in the three's company opening credits, but as beaches go, i prefer marina del rey.

anyone following the development of the grocery strike? so grossed out by this detail from the LAT yesterday:

The retailers are fighting back. This week, Albertsons and Vons began taking applications for people willing to cross a picket line and work during a strike.

On Wednesday, customers walking through the front door of the Albertsons store at West 39th Street and Crenshaw Boulevard in Los Angeles were greeted with a sign offering $10- to $13-an-hour jobs “for temporary replacement associates due to a potential labor dispute at our store.”

i saw a "help wanted during grocery strike" sign outside vons a few days ago. good luck, potential scabs.

I heard a radio ad by the unions that was touting some poll saying 60+% of californians wouldnt cross a picket line.. bullshit. They say that now when they dont exist.. Give them like a week once the strike goes down.

i hope (the fervently anti-union) target doesn't get an uptick in sales because of this.
