Hi there!

I am crazy missing LA this past month. I haven't had a good burrito or kimchee worth mentioning in a full calendar year.

That would be agony and a half, I sympathize.

looking for work in LA has been a bitch and trying to do this from here on the east coast surely hasn’t helped. i may never make it back !!

That statue represents myself and things that I've had to defeat in my life. So it wasn't like I was just this wacky guy who wanted 20 penises on his lawn. That's not the way I roll.... Unfortunately, the neighbors and other people never took the time to wonder if there was a reason....

culver city has a cool little art scene... good for afternoon gallery-hopping.

as for venice, i don't know it that well. the beach is good for pretending you're in the three's company opening credits, but as beaches go, i prefer marina del rey.

anyone following the development of the grocery strike? so grossed out by this detail from the LAT yesterday:
The retailers are fighting back. This week, Albertsons and Vons began taking applications for people willing to cross a picket line and work during a strike. On Wednesday, customers walking through the front door of the Albertsons store at West 39th Street and Crenshaw Boulevard in Los Angeles were greeted with a sign offering $10- to $13-an-hour jobs “for temporary replacement associates due to a potential labor dispute at our store.”

i saw a "help wanted during grocery strike" sign outside vons a few days ago. good luck, potential scabs.

I heard a radio ad by the unions that was touting some poll saying 60+% of californians wouldnt cross a picket line.. bullshit. They say that now when they dont exist.. Give them like a week once the strike goes down.
― strongly recommend. unless you're a bitch (mayor jingleberries), Friday, 19 August 2011 00:11 (thirteen years ago) link
i hope (the fervently anti-union) target doesn't get an uptick in sales because of this.
― chavo pendergrass (get bent), Friday, 19 August 2011 22:46 (thirteen years ago) link
i mean, i shop at target for their vast selection of cheap crap, but i haven't taken advantage of their grocery section. i really need to stop supporting these dipshits.

Trader Joe's employees ALWAYS seem really happy, despite the fact that many of them are comfortably middle-aged and scanning my Weetabix for a living, why is that??

Yeah that seems like a shame. I have guests coming this weekend and wanted to take them. The city's getting pretty draconian recently, for example they gave ME a speeding ticket yesterday! in Chinatown, of all places.
OK so who knows kid/baby-friendly things in LA? I was thinking Travel Town, LACMA, Grand Central Market (it's loud), Angel's Flight. Probably won't do the beach

Cool! Yeah I will check out the latter. I basically work equidistant from each, but Broadway parking wins every time.
There is also this place but the coffee is kinda sweet and the service is slow (but very nice). Baked goods smell great, though: http://www.labaking.com/
