"the leaderonomics show" is not a cnbc asia program, i don't think

http://leaderonomics.com/theleaderonomicsshow/

that host came up on google as a HR manager for GE asia in 2003, at least

http://www.cfo.com/article.cfm/3010619/2/c_2984789?f=related

Critique of Pure Moods (goole), Monday, 6 February 2012 14:24 (twelve years ago) link

that's one of those things that seems so minor, but like, why fib about it? no you were not on cnbc asia, you were just on some webshow.

Critique of Pure Moods (goole), Monday, 6 February 2012 14:25 (twelve years ago) link

it does not look like a real show.

the jazz zinger (s1ocki), Monday, 6 February 2012 14:30 (twelve years ago) link

also the way the host grunted "uh-huh" "ya" "yup" thru that interview, did not indicate to me someone really well-trained in on-air broadcasting

I had a loooong talk with my mom about this thread on Saturday -- she is trying to write a book, and she goes to a lot of "conferences for writers" (that's what she calls them) and they are full of aspiring life coaches and self-help hucksters in addition to regular people trying to sell memoirs about their crazy lives. She's very aware of this panoply of potential weirdos/predators, but has made a few questionable "friends" along the way. She's kind of a curious restless person (anyone who knows me knows that this sounds familiar) and I think she goes there to peoplewatch as much as anything else. She has also made some alright friends and people who are genuinely interested in what she's doing and whatnot.

tl;dr --> my mom is into this shit (like this thread is, not like involved)

I feel like I'm a lot like this and sometimes I worry I'll get sucked into something that tweaks my specific idiosyncrasies. Then again, I don't really have the kind of money to get too deep into these kind of things...

Does make me think about the whole "stare not long into the abyss" thing. I already own The Power of Now, perhaps its already too late for me XD

Frobisher (Viceroy), Monday, 6 February 2012 16:07 (twelve years ago) link

Yeah, I think some people are just wired to find this sort of peoplewatching interesting, and it can get a little scary if you get too close. I was checking in with her to tell her about Vishen and the gang, but also to make sure that her radar was still functioning. She has gotten herself into a bit of a pickle before, and was doing a lot of work for free, and it was getting in the way of her relationships with other people (namely me).

La Lechera, Monday, 6 February 2012 16:20 (twelve years ago) link

I think it's interesting to vicariously experience these different states and mindsets in other people ... it's like exploration, satisfies a kind-of curiosity. Problem is actually getting too deep with it which is more dangerous with social stuff.

Spectrum, Monday, 6 February 2012 16:27 (twelve years ago) link

i enjoy people watching, but a far as loons like these the internet is abt as close as im confortable getting, theres a big diff between watching and interacting, actually relating to these fools would be p depressing imho

lag∞n, Monday, 6 February 2012 16:30 (twelve years ago) link

Yeah, that's some dark territory to get into. Like imagining how a crazy person thinks ... it's really weird and unsettling.

Spectrum, Monday, 6 February 2012 16:33 (twelve years ago) link

Yeah, my mom is a bit of a danger-seeker/tourist, I think. It's weird, but I totally get it.

La Lechera, Monday, 6 February 2012 16:36 (twelve years ago) link
